"In Memory of Tim Brown"

Local Silver Lake music scene mourns the loss one of its own:

It is with heavy hearts and inconsolable grief that we share with everyone the loss of our dear friend Tim Brown, the drummer of our band Pink Mochi. He died on Tuesday, October 19th due to sudden and as of yet, inexplicable kidney failure. This comes as a complete shock, as he was fit and healthy just days before his death. For those that knew him well, his swift departure from this earth leaves us confused, awestruck, and heartbroken.

Tim was a gentle, carefree soul who infused his unique humor and wit into every conversation. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a true Southern gentleman, lover of jazz and bluegrass, and connoisseur of fine whiskeys. His passion for music spanned his entire lifetime, having played the same drumkit for over 30 years. His creative breakbeats and unique rhythms were the foundation and soul of our music. He was also a talented jazz pianist and a post-production sound engineer.

Bandmates are like family, and to lose our dear brother is devastating. We had many great times and shows with Tim over the last 6 years. To quote one of his favorite sayings, we hope he's "sittin' on the porch, drinkin' mint julips" up in that great big house in the sky. Then again, at 6' 7" he was pretty close to heaven to begin with.

We love you Tim. Words cannot express how much you are missed.

Bio

After the death of our drummer Tim Brown in the band Pink Mochi, there was a moment where I began to think that playing music wouldn't be possible. I almost decided to give it up, until I had a dream and Tim helped me write songs. He inspired me to dig out the old ones and keep going. I have finally began to make a full length album from "soup to nuts" as he used to say. Our new line up includes Lisa Fendelander a long time friend and bandmate in Pink Mochi. Lisa has been an integral member of bands such as Sea Wolf & Xu Xu Fang. On drums we have Aaron Finley from the famed Little Richard cover band, Big Dick. On guitar we have David Greening from Molino & Old Toy Trains. On bass, is Bradford Craig, L.A. session musician and audio engineer. Together we have formed a great group who has been able to bring these songs to life.

Jimmy LaValle of The Album Leaf is producing and recording our first release titled Haunt Me.
