His grandmother gave him a nickname, “Young Child”, and Young Chizz turned it into a stage name. Raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York, Chizz parted from his original duo, Fame & Chizz, and has been building a successful solo career for himself. After touring under hip hop heavyweights Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne, as well as racking up rotations on MTV & commercial radio, Young Chizz released his debut EP, Provoked, in late 2014. - Tunecore

"You voted: A locally filmed music video was the top entertainment happening of 2013"

The Lehigh Valley saw an exciting year in food, music and TV.
But our readers said their favorite was the filming of Young Chizz's music video for #Mobbin in Easton's Centre Square.

The hip-hop artist currently resides in the Poconos and came back to Easton for the video's premiere in July. - Express Times

"Young Chizz to film hip-hop music video today in Easton's Centre Square"

Easton’s Centre Square will make an appearance on MTV in coming weeks -- and area residents are invited to take part.

Recording artist Young Chizz will film a music video for his recently released single “#MOBBIN” at 4 p.m. today in Centre Square. The hip-hop artist currently resides in the Poconos and is known for his cover of the Sugar Hill Gang song “Jump On It” with the group Fame & Chizz.

Attendees can be in the video if they sign a video release form, said Mark Scuderi, business manager for the T.O.N.Y. Media Group, an entertainment management company based out of Washington, N.J.

Easton will be the last stop for the video, which will also feature Washington's Merrill Creek Reservoir; Norfolk, Va.; and several spots in New York City.

Scuderi said Young Chizz traveled on Friday to Hudson, N.Y., to film footage on a flight to Toms River, N.J., with the luxury jet charter service Richmor Aviation.

“I think being in the Lehigh Valley, Easton is missed a lot,” Scuderi said, noting that bigger cities such as Allentown and Bethlehem attract more attention. “Young kids feel the same way. We figured they have a fantastic Centre Square there, and it was great to accomplish what we were trying to do.”

Mayor Sal Panto Jr. said although the originally proposed spot was Heil Park, he suggested the more recognizable location. Because the event will happen after the Easton Farmer's Market, traffic patterns will remain the same.

“If we’re going to be in the video, the most recognizable place in Easton is the monument,” Panto said. Although he said he hasn’t heard the song, Panto said he plans to stop by today’s shoot.

Scuderi said his meeting with Panto regarding the last-minute location earlier this week went smoothly.

“It was fantastic,” Scuderi said. “He is just a great guy. He agreed to meet with us right away. When we showed up at City Hall, he greeted us personally.”

Panto added that Easton is no stranger to the camera.

“We’ve hosted a lot of films and a lot of videos,” Panto said. “We had a documentary group in last week that came through town.”

The music video could result in a potential increase in tourism, Discover Lehigh Valley President Michael Stershic said.

“It just presents the community in a hopefully positive light so people can see what the architecture is, what the background is,” Stershic said. “Maybe they’ll see something they like and come and visit.”

Panto said he hopes the event will be a draw for young people in the area.

“We will do whatever it takes to get the good things happening in Easton out to the rest of the world,” Panto said. “This is another venue that young people will look at. By Lehigh Valley Planning Commission standards, of all the 62 municipalities in the Lehigh Valley, we’re the fastest growing in the age group 18-35.”

Scuderi said he notified local businesses of today’s shoot and encouraged them to promote their businesses during the event. Local car and motorcycle clubs will also come out, he added.

The music video is due to premiere July 15 and will be on MTV, BET, Vevo, YouTube and T.O.N.Y. Media Group’s website, Scuderi said.

"YOUNG CHIZZ INTERVIEW WITH WWS MAGAZINE"

(Monday, August 20, 2012) - WWS Magazine Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I am from Jamaica Queens, New York City. The big apple (lol). I got where I am today by not quitting, not settling, being persistent, and not listening or surrounding myself around any negative people.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
The debut single is “Swagger On A Million.” This is a very hard record. It basically explains where I stand as far as trends go. I don’t follow them, I set them. I do the complete opposite of what everyone else is doing. I’ve never been a follower. The song is climbing the Mediabase charts as we speak, the video is on MTV and VEVO.com so go check it out if you haven’t seen it already.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
The hardest challenge was coming to accept what the industry really is. It’s a business. Talent is the bare minimum of what you need to get by. When I first started rapping in the 9th grade I thought it was all about talent, but now I know. If I knew then what I know now I would have reached this point years ago.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
Biggest setback was becoming a solo artist. I was in a duo before and things didn’t work out as we planned, but that’s still my brother and we are moving forward.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Fantasy (lol). Everything isn’t what it seems to be. Be careful of people who want to offer you the world and can’t even give you a block.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Go hard, no pain no gain. You have to sacrifice to make it. Sometimes it may feel like you gave everything up. But when you gave it your all and you feel like you have nothing left, and your ready to quit, that’s when it’s close.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I love to perform. I love to be on the stage, I love all my fans. I love when the beat drops and I black out. I get in my zone.

Where can people visit you?

"AT ESU FOOTBALL FIELD, RAPPER MAKES VIDEO AIMED AT GIANTS FANS"

It's not every day that a music video is made at the East Stroudsburg University football field.

But on Sunday, that's exactly what happened.

Young Chizz, a hip-hop artist, made a video for his song "Here Comes the Blue" at the Eiler-Martin Stadium on Sunday.

Chizz, an up-and-coming rapper, hopes that the song, which references New York and football, will ultimately be adopted by the New York Giants as the team's theme song. Making the video is just one step in the process of getting the song adopted by the Giants, Chizz hopes.

On Sunday at the stadium, many members of the community participated in the making the video. Chizz's staff earlier in the week put out a notice on the Internet saying that local Giants fans, who wanted to participate in the video, should come to the stadium wearing Giants colors — and many fans did.

The fans on Sunday stood on the 50-yard line on the field and did as the director asked, raising their arms in celebratory gestures and doing other things.

Chizz, who lives in the Poconos, asked ESU if he could use the stadium for the video, and the school was more than amenable, said Young Chizz's assistant, Tarea Wadlington.

Bio

Young Chizz is an artist from Jamaica, Queens, New York, whose stage name evolved from a nickname, "Young Child", he was given by one of his grandmothers. He was first recognized for the single Jump On It, which he recorded while part of the duo Fame & Chizz (released in March 2010). Fame & Chizz also recorded a song called Moving, which was picked up by Michael Cherry of NASCAR. Young Chizz, now a solo artist, inserted himself into the music industry at an early age, being involved in two separate music groups, interning at Ruff Ryders recording label, and assisting in the development of three independent recording labels, one of which he is the current president (T.O.N.Y. Media Group). With two tours with major hip hop artists such as Lil Wayne & Young Jeezy under his belt, rotations on MTV (Swagger On A Million), radio top 100 airplay in various markets and almost half a million views on VEVO for his #MOBBIN video (filmed in various locations along the East coast and voted the Lehigh Valley’s Top Entertainment happening of 2013), Young Chizz is not slowing down anytime soon. He not only is currently partnered with the Lehigh Valley SteelHawks (a Professional Indoor Football League team which he created an anthem for), he also recently filmed the pilot episode of a reality series he created which documents celebrities as they learn how to fly jets, helicopters, etc.; additionally, he recently released his debut solo EP, #Provoked.
