West Hammock is a young group of musicians who have become increasingly relevant, not only within the Port Perry and Oshawa communities, but also on the inner city level as well. West Hammock consists of Hunter Sheridan on lead vocals and electric guitar, Sean Thornton on piano and backup vocals, and Sam O’Connor on bass guitar. The band released their debut EP in 2014 titled, “The River”, which was followed up by an Ontario tour that featured shows with the JUNO award winning band, The Strumbellas. Two years later, with the release of their second EP titled, “Wanderlost”, the band reached new levels of local success and regularly appeared on local television shows and newspapers. In the summer of 2016, West Hammock embarked on a month long cross Canada summer tour to support the release of their new album. The tour was kicked off by a sold out show at the Oshawa Music Hall with The Strumbellas and a sold out headliner album release show at The Moustache Club. While frontman, Hunter Sheridan, isn’t recording with West Hammock, he keeps busy with his solo project, October Wild. Keep an eye out for the debut EP, which was recorded and filmed live at Old Flame Brewing Co. in Port Perry, ON, back in the summer of 2015.
West Hammock plans to release their first music video in early 2017 and to record their debut LP later that year.
West Hammock’s music is a blend of indie - rock meets folk, a sound that is current, combined with a band that is committed, resulting in an entertaining and memorable performance.
