HipHopDX Features Editor Andre Grant said in his “Defense Of The Struggle Rapper” editorial, “Out of all the things the Hip Hop web has vilified, the “struggle rapper” might be the least deserving of all that ridicule.” Before Kendrick Lamar became big enough for Barack Obama to sing his praises or Drake found himself making deals with Apple, they were artists without a significantly large fanbase attempting what seemed like the impossible. Hitting the top of the charts became a distant goal to making past one hundred streams of a song possibly made within the confines of their bedroom walls and gaining likes, re-post or anything else that would reach someone. Providing a weekly outlet for those getting their feet wet in the sometimes brutal sport of Hip Hop, allow us to provide readers a look into tomorrow’s possibilities through “Up Next.”
Hearing Loss Is The Last Of Wayde Alexander’s Worries
Inspiration For Rap Career
“Tha Carter III was a great album. Tha Carter and Tha Carter II were superb pieces of work, but the third one you could listen to the whole album. Before then, I was already trying to make music, but that album made me want to make it a career. It was inspiring to me.”
Having A Shot At Rap Stardom
“I have a defect in my eustachian tube. My ears are always hurting. I have headaches every day. I push through that cause I love music. I try to keep whatever hearing I have left by putting cotton balls in my ear. Five years from now, I see myself being one of the best despite all of that.“
Upcoming Project(s) In The Works
“ I just want to bring a good feeling with my upcoming project Caught In Traffic. It’s coming out sometime in the next four months. Caught In Traffic is me being inspired by all the civil rights movements going on. How would you feel if you were caught in a situation? I just compare it to being caught in traffic. Just some chill vibe stuff and I want people to understand where I’m coming from.” - Hip Hop DX

Bio
It was in church that Wayde Alexander discovered his sound. The depth and soulfulness of gospel music after temporarily losing his hearing, the fear of never being able to listen to music again caused his thirst for lyrical greatness to kick into overdrive and he began seeking new ways to expand and perfect his craft. Battle rapping at parties and collaborating with friends developed Wayde into a fresh voice of reason within the new generation of Hip Hop. And his 2012 mix tape, Magic City Dreams, defined his style as a creator of genre defying variation of sounds, impacting both rhythmic and urban audiences. Through a strategic release of consumer driven content to the media and a consistent stream of innovative sounds and passion fueled music to his target audience, Wayde Alexander’s impact on th ever-changing, diverse face of Hip Hop and urban culture is one of astronomical proportions.
