Born in Scarborough, Johnathan, aka Soldiah Casanova, moved back to Trinidad until the age of 10. That is where he developed his love of music. Being exposed to all different styles of music brought forth the thoughts of what infusions would sound like. After coming back up to Canada, he fell in love with 90's hip-hop and from then started modelling his music based on that style. Even with music changing, he changes with it while keeping hip-hop fundamentals present. If it isn't lined with lyricism, it is full of stories. Described as a collaboration between Wu Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest, you can hear the influence and see the progression. With a new E.P. being released on Spotify at the end of July and a few singles leading up to the release, Soldiah Casanova will prove that underground hip-hop can survive with the mainstream sound.
