Now here’s a sound built to deliver the good times to ya.
I’ve got a lil’ sample of somethin’ old & somethin’ new to help us all get to know what this Outlaw Country sound they’re working with is all about. “Lonely Mile” was released back in 2016 from the looks of things online – and we’ve got a brand-new single in the mix for you as well called “Come On” that was put out in June…we’ll talk about’em both in a doubleshot for ya in this here review partners, saddle up.
Here’s what I can immediately tell ya – The Remus Tucker Band IS The Remus Tucker Band for a reason – this dude can absolutely slay microphones. Right from the get-go past the sliding guitars slipping this track into place at the beginning, you can hear the soulful sound of his voice is already stellar – and before thirty-seconds have even passed on “Lonely Mile,” the main man on the mic, Remus Tucker, will damn-well blow your mind with gigantic notes and flawless tone. No joke dear readers, dear friends – that’s the kind of voice that was born & destined to find its way to the front of the stage, and here it is. You can hear how much of a role Tucker plays in the crossover sound and potential you’ll find on “Lonely Mile” – the way he sings would be just as incredibly well suited for the alt-grunge styles of something like Alice In Chains or Soundgarden, or something wildly hair-rock like Van Halen…I mean, after what I’m hearing from him on this single, I’m pretty convinced he could pull off just about anything-Rock, 100%. Dude’s got soul, dude’s got style, dude’s got an extremely capable crew of ace talent surrounding him in his band – you’re not going to find any faults in the execution of a cut like “Lonely Mile” or feel like there was a spot that could have been improved…there’s no doubt that The Remus Tucker Band as a whole, went after every moment of this single with inspired instrumentation and genuinely electric energy. Strong hooks – bulletproof performance from all members of the band – The Remus Tucker Band storms and stomps through the mountainous rhythm & groove of “Lonely Mile” and creates a moment you’re sure to remember them by. And don’t forget – this was all back in 2016 y’all – it’s plenty clear that this band has been kickin’ all the ass & then-some from the studios to the stage for a while by now.
S’pose that begs the question hombres – what are they up to NOW in 2019?
I mean look…far be it from me to say they’re reinventing the wheel with what they’re creating, but you certainly can’t fault them for how well they put their music together & how much fire they bring to their performances. We’ve all got our favorites…of the two, I’d probably side towards “Lonely Mile” – maybe that’s the effect of going in sequence here & the impact of a first impression, maybe it’s a slightly better tune overall – you’ll all be the judge & jury through your own speakers & headsets on that one. That being said, I’m not at all knocking the new single “Come On” – in fact I’d completely stand behind saying it sounds like the boys are back in town and in fine form this year, yessir. Not every musician, artist, or band is out to break entirely new ground – some out there are plenty fine with stomping confidently on well-tread terrain and providing the people with the good times they’re truly seeking out – and I’d argue that The Remus Tucker Band likely falls into that last category of folks. You can hear from the way they surge through such a comforting brand of barnstorming Rock on “Come On” just how naturally it comes to these guys to Rock the fuck out and how willing they are to pass on that electric vibe to you out there. They rip through “Come On” with a reliably gripping pace that never lets up, searing guitar notes and crunchy distorted tones that totally hit the mark…the whole structure is designed to deliver on maximum entertainment at all times. Complete with clever breakdowns, solos, backup vocals, and a flair that would rival the greats from Jerry Lee Lewis to Elvis to the Stones – and all at once – The Remus Tucker Band reveals the wild-side of Rock that’s tried, tested, and true – people love jams as hot as this. - Sleeping Bag Studios
The Remus Tucker Band is a band with a passion for southern rock and outlaw country.
Their sound could be described as a timeless combination of various genres, bridging the gaps between retro aesthetics and clever storytelling. Recently, The Remus Tucker Band set out to release a brand new project named “Come On.” This song encapsulates the band’s unique production aesthetics, with a gritty, spontaneous sound that feels quite cinematic in its own right.
The instruments are crisp and balanced, while the vocal melody is presents and jumps out of the arrangement, while still remaining firmly anchored to the mix! Everything is quite balanced, with just the right amount of spice and excitement to do something amazing. The song truly stands out for its distinctive color. If you are a fan of artists such as Willie Nelson, Lucero, Drive-By Truckers, as well as Townes Van Zandt, this is going to be a no brainer for sure! - The Bandcamp Diaries
The Remus Tucker Band, is an awesome band. End of story. If you took Whiskey Myers, Molly Hatchet, and the Allman Brothers, threw them in a blender, tossed in a heaped dose of extremely good musicianship and talent, and stirred in some fantastic songwriting and compelling lyrics, you would have The Remus Tucker Band. These guys are ridiculous. Seriously. For any Southern Rock fan, this is a required band. They aren’t derivative at all, while their influences are clear- distinctly southern rock with a healthy dose of blues and modern country.
This Denver area band, which launched around about 2012, led by head honcho Remus Tucker, released their first album, “South of New Orleans”, in 2013 and haven’t looked back. The band is releasing a new single “Come On” during June, while they have an album in the pipework too. Currently you can catch up with their track “Lonely Mile”.
Like all the other great southern rock bands, The Remus Tucker Band know the value of keeping it simple. They play music for the people, pure and simple, stripped of pretension and artifice. There’s a chunk of rock n’ roll here, a little bit of boogie there, and touch of country and blues everywhere.
It’s a formula they have got locked down tight, and which you can hear all over the 11 track album, “South of New Orleans”. The single “Lonely Mile”, forges all of those elements, in under 6 minutes. So what you get is an intensely power-packed track.
The song arranges all the motifs in the correct order right, from the start, as it deals out a big-room beat, riffs that would suit anywhere from a spit-’n’-sawdust saloon, to an all-star rocking arena, great washes of resonant bass, and vocals the size of the Rocky Mountains.
While it no doubt carries the DNA of everyone from Skynryd and the Allmans to Marshall Tucker, this is a band with its own vision, so you’d best be prepared, as they rock up the room. Their top-notch work comes from commitment, deep roots and the kind of confidence that is earned by playing the hell out of their instruments.
We often talk about the decline of the importance of melody and even great vocals in the age of popular music we’re living in, but it also has meant the virtual extinction of the guitar riff. We’re all so focused on lyrics and production that we’ve forgotten what unique joy a great guitar riff can bring to our ears.
“Lonely Mile” is a swift reminder, calling to mind some great Southern rock bands, whose riffs get perpetually stuck in your head. To that end, the guitar solo is another truly shining element here, and sits alongside Tucker’s screaming vocals as an absolute focal point of the song.
Just like traditional country music, and a handful of other roots driven genres, Southern rock needs artists to keep it alive in the modern context, to prove it’s not music of the past and to keep pushing the genre forward. Denver’s The Remus Tucker Band, show in no uncertain terms, on “Lonely Mile”, that they’re ready to take up that particular torch and carry it with a vengeance. - TunedLoud
Come On is a new single The Remus Tucker Band, and outfit based in Denver, CO. With it’s vivaciously twangy guitars and spicy vocals, the song captures an authentic Southern rock and blues sound. It has a delightfully rural and down home feel to it, while remaining absolutely rockin.’ Remus and the band come off like veteran music professionals. You can tell just by listening that these guys have earned their chops playing at bars and clubs for years. Nothing amateur about this recording. The production is far above average for this genre, pretty much major label quality. Come On is one of those songs that entices you to get up, take chances and have an adventure. It’s like a friend trying to persuade you to go out and have a wild time while you’re moping around on the couch. The spirited energy is attractive and contagious. It’s a great Friday night “drive home from work” song and listening to it should get you in the mood for some fresh excitement. - Stepkid.com
