Bio
Formed in 2014, The Blue Lights consist of three American expats and one Canadian who call Toronto, Ontario home.
Andrew Classen (guitar) made the trek North from Southern California in 2001. Margot Collins (drums, vocals, flute) followed her heart to Canada from the US Midwest in 1997. Lori Grosick (vocals, guitar, drums, percussion) left Pittsburgh, PA the day after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 to be with her Canadian partner who she met at Burning Man in 2000. Sandy MacKay (bass) moved to Toronto from Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2005.
Their sound incorporates a wide range of rock genres and is best described as, “fuzzywuzzydarkandswirlyloudhypnoticboyandgirly”.
The Blue Lights created their self-titled, full-length recording in August 2017 at the “Lincoln County Social Club” in Toronto. This recording was mixed and mastered by Alex Spencer and the band.
Their most recent EP, called “Miscellaneous Magic”, was generated from a live, “off the floor” recording captured by Spencer at the Rehearsal Factory in December 2018.
In April 2019, the band had the pleasure of opening for the New Candys from Venice, Italy during their debut Toronto appearance at the Monarch Tavern.
