The dreamy electro-pop music duo Stereospread has played some shows around Asheville, but they admit that most of their popularity comes from Europe.
The internet has opened up audiences that weren't available just a few years ago, they said. But the duo, based in Waynesville, hope to raise their local exposure with a synthpop showcase Feb. 6 at the Lexington Avenue Bewery, 39 N. Lexington Ave. The show also features Asheville electronic rock band oddSTAR and the power trio Divine Love Mission.

Bio
STEREOSPREAD is a synthpop band and production team based out of Western North Carolina producing intoxicating electronic music that evokes the full spectrum of human emotion. Stereospread is a duo featuring James Hopkins on synths, bass, and guitar with Sara Snyder contributing vocals, trumpet, keys, and guitar.
Stereospread released their debut EP, The Ghost and The Grave, in November of 2012. The EP is a short imaginary concept album of six songs whose texts were taken from historical papers found in an abandoned familys mansion in the make-believe town of Hollow Gap, NC. STEREOSPREAD released a second EP, The Heart and The Thief, initially exclusively on the social media site, Fanattac, in January 2013. The album was distributed elsewhere in mid-2013. Stereospreads single Frozen was released in September 2013 by Australia-based DAGA records and featured a remix from Grantwho. In November 2013, Stereospread presented a workshop for the EMErgence festival in Asheville, hosted by LEAF Schools and Streets and the Bob Moog Foundation. Their workshop with Banmier, Junkyard Beats: Creating Music with Found Sounds, was sponsored by Presonus and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Department of Education.
Currently, Stereospread is hosting and performing at two local monthly events; the Asheville Synthpop series at The Millroom and Mode:fest electronic music series at the Emerald Lounge. They are playing shows regionally and working to complete a full-length album to be released in early summer 2014. Stereospread has created remixes for Haap, Ask You in Gray, Sexbots, DJ Story, Kissing in Graveyards, and more.
Stereospreads sound can be compared to artists such as Royksopp, The Chromatics, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp, Purity Ring, M83, DWNTWN, and With Beating Hearts.
