"Indie Folk Artist Shane Casey Shines A Light With Single "Find My Way""

NEWTON, N.J. | July 31, 2020 – Indie folk artist and singer-songwriter Shane Casey serves a moving and insightful single “Find My Way“, off his upcoming album Silver Star. A light at the end of the tunnel, the song embodies the spark of inspiration and hope, knowing that while the path may be long and rough, you’ll make it through.

A layered harmony of vocals open the track, before breaking into a bright and lively guitar lick. Casey, supported by his band, builds a solid contemporary folk rock tune, drawing listeners in to the story. “It started as just a simple chorus, and turned into so much more,” shared Casey. “In the context of the album, it’s the main character’s first step into a new world. He’s searching for meaning, or his ”Silver Star”. Whether that be love, a job, or just a feeling you can chase; it doesn’t matter. I was heavily inspired by Conor Oberst’s work in “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” and I wanted this idea to be somewhat in line with his concept of a “yellow bird”. I guess the inspiration for this song is just finding inspiration itself.”
Casey connected with drummer Joex Marotta as a neighbor years ago, and bassist Keith Macadoo through the introduction. “These were the first people who heard my songs and actually wanted to do something with them,” said Casey. “I brought my childhood friend and guitarist Brian Lawrey into the mix and it’s been surreal to see how these guys can really bring a song to life. I would bring my songs to these guys and they would instantly start adding instrumentation that sounded like it belonged there the whole time. I wrote this album, but I can safely say it would not exist without the help of my friends.”Silver Star pulls together a lively blend of contemporary folk, Americana, classic rock, and indie influences. Narrative storylines and sweeping choruses craft the path of the character introduced in “Find My Way”, loosely following his life, from the death of his father to the birth of his son. Appealingly nostalgic yet eternally relevant, it’s a story of finding your path in life, and finding the power to move forward, even in uncertain times. - Behind the Curtains Media

"Resilient And Hopeful, Shane Casey’s “Find My Way” Has Something To Share"

Difficult times come and go, weathering them while holding on to hope is what the new single from Shane Casey, “Find My Way,” is all about. Drawing listeners in with beautiful harmonizing, this indie folk track feels soft, fluid and persistent. It treats listeners to the storytelling and vocals folk music is known for, while integrating elements of rock that give the song an edge. This track has some real heart and a story that will resonate with anyone.

Shane Casey is a singer-songwriter from New Jersey who created “Find My Way” with guitarist Brian Lawrey, bassist Keith Macadoo, and drummer Joex Marotto. The track is part of a concept album called Silver Star that the group has worked on bringing to life over the last year. Silver Star tells one man’s life story, sharing his many hardships and hopes. The album is set to release on August 21.

As the first release from Silver Star, “Find My Way” is the perfect jumping off point for listeners to enter the story Casey is sharing. It is all about starting one’s life journey and being resilient enough to keep going. The lyric “storm it follows me almost everywhere that I go / but I don’t mind the pouring rain” really embodies this idea. At four minutes and 53 seconds, it is a bit of a lengthy listen. However, the storyline and accompaniment make it worth the while. The guitar parts give the track vibrancy and help move the emotions behind the song along. Further, everything in this track is beautifully blended - Indie Band Guru

"Exclusive Premiere: Shane Caseys New Album – Silver Star"

Today we’re thrilled to bring you an exclusive premiere and early listen to the new album from New Jersey-based Americana / indie-folk artist, Shane Casey. Silver Star will officially be released tomorrow and Casey along with Keith Macadoo on bass, Joex Marotta on drums, and Brian Lawrey on lead guitar, have spent the past year producing this new record. Though some of the writing process for Casey goes back even a bit further.

Silver Star is a concept album which in a sense, is about death and rebirth. The album takes a look at the life of a man dealing with the passing of his father, and the birth of his son. With its enthralling storytelling, radiant harmonies, and combination of classic folk rock and indie influences, Casey has created an album that is poignant, nostalgic, and joyful.

Shane spoke a little bit about the release by saying:

While the recording process took about a year, the idea itself started a long time ago. I probably wrote “Oh Father” roughly 5 years ago, along with “Mariana” and “Landslide”.

At first, these songs were just ways to talk about how I felt towards the death of my own father and the distance it put between me and his side of the family.

I wrote “Songbird” a couple of years later on a balcony in Ocean City, Maryland; that’s where I had the idea to start taking these thoughts and fusing them into a character that was similar to me, but dealing with different circumstances.

Bio

Born and raised in the hills of North Jersey, Shane Casey has spent over half his life writing and performing music. With two albums and a handful of EP’s, he boasts a respectable discography ranging from melancholy folk, to boisterous rock- and not to mention some good ol’ fashioned, salt-of-the-earth Americana. “Too old to change, too young to care” Shane has found his sound and delivers a cheerful nihilism missing in today’s modern atmosphere, while speaking directly to the beating heart of the middle class.

Shane is known for illustrating vivid imagery over a down tuned acoustic, whilst letting harmonica fill the spaces between. But don’t let the sad acoustic songs fool you; whether performing solo or with a three piece band behind him… he’s no stranger to Rock N’ Roll.
