There is a fine line between writing words that anyone can relate to, and gets you right down to the core; and music that speaks to your soul and caught up in your mind while riding in your car throughout the day. Sergio Rangel embodies both of these qualities in every song that he writes. With the success of his first EP “On the Line of a Truth and a Lie”, Sergio has started to write and record his first Full Length Album, “Along the Same Lines”, with 4 songs from his EP, completely redone with full band, horns, and organ.
Sergio Rangel originally from Austin, Texas now resides in Mobile, Alabama, but the influence of his sound can be heard as all Austin Style. Even though his Style of music is Acoustic Soul, primarily acoustic guitar driven, Sergio feels his heaviest influences in music are Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B King, Ryan Adams, and Dave Matthews. When doing Solo shows, Sergio is often described to have a certain ‘coffee shop’ feel to his style and music, similar to Norah Jones, and one not to miss; in the Full band setting, he is able to let loose from his smooth sound to a broad, feet moving Jam Session with the other musicians that are in the group. Although Sergio has only been playing guitar for 8 years, there was just something natural about the feeling when he first wrapped his hands around the neck of the Gibson Acoustic he learned on; and with the first note picked and Chord strummed, he was off in a world that only those that have picked up an instrument could ever experience.
Sergio Rangel has been described as a ‘balladeer’ in circles around the Mobile Area, and with great success, has started making a name for himself having started to just play open mic nights around his local area. With a strong standing in the local singer/songwriter scene, Sergio is a huge believer in supporting local music and the bands that fall into that category.
Be on the lookout for this up and coming Artist, as he is one that will help change the way music is viewed, taking it from the 'how someone looks', to making it only about the music.
