Bio
Born Rodney Spencer, R.U.Me, is an emerging multi-genre artist from Houston who has been just the surface of Houston’s underground scene for a while now. Coughee Break, his long-awaited new solo project, is a formal introduction to R.U.Me (pronounced Rum) - which is an acronym that simply means: Are You Me? Which is symbolic of the self conscious, thought provoking message that His music conveys... Earlier musical affiliation include works with the Coughee Brothaz, (where He best known for his solo contribution, “Garden Tool”, the first of its kind for any of the group’s projects). R.U.Me has quickly come to the consciousness of fans since the release of “Fresh Brew”, the latest CBz album. Other contributions to the album also include: “Who Got that Funk” and “Blunts and Pens” RUM's verse on DtD’s "Fresh Air" is a tell tale sign of that we are witnessing a true star being born. R.U.Me and His on-stage physical antics and use of props and clothing (at least 50 cities saw the red and black cape) left crowds all over America wanting more. The Coughee Break project is definitely the enduring answer for the fans’ sentiment. Incorporating the production talents of Himself, Mirawge Bizaarre, C-Ray, Crazy and Willington Blast-off, this is an epic, groundbreaking release from the Sea Sick Records/CBz camp. Features include: His early influences range from Marvin Gaye to Al Green, The Isley Bros., The Dramatics, Prince, Bobby Womack, Johnnie Taylor, Johnny Guitar Watson, and Many more.
