Bio
Formed in 2011, Redfeather has been a staple in St. Petersburg's music scene ever since. Redfeather fuses structured vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar melodies with a psychedelic landscape of sound created by an array of electric guitar and synthesizer effects merged by a dense bass and percussion formation that, when combined, can be felt resonating in your chest.
Redfeather's music expresses a deeper level of consciousness and a greater appreciation of the natural world. Many of their songs are inspired by moments of enlightenment in nature, love and human interconnectivity; a manifestation of their spiritual characteristics transfigured into music. Their music tends to ebb and flow with intention in a sprawl of evolving rhythms like a transpiring story taking place. Some of Redfeather's influences include Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tame Impala, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Flaming Lips and Radiohead among many other classic and contemporary bands, but when it comes to their sound, they stand on their own.
Redfeather began as an extension to vocalist/guitarist Mark Etherington's solo project, Mountain Holler, expanding on its timbre and atmosphere by adding TC Smith on drums and vocals, Jacqlyn Titus on keys and vocals, and Doug Gialluca on bass. For a short time in 2013 Redfeather took a hiatus when Jacqlyn and Doug left to pursue their own pet project, Cosm. Filling in the gap, Redfeather brought on former Hunter:Gatherer member, Marcus Sumner on guitar, synthesizer and vocals and William Hanson on bass, who eventually passed the torch to Redfeather's current bass player, Rob Kelley, to form what is now a solidified and distinctly transformed version of the band from when it was first set in motion.
