"3. Ears
Please, for the love of all things human body, do not leave your ears at home. First of all, that would be very gross, and, we would imagine, also unsanitary. But more importantly, you'd miss all of the awesome music that makes Summer Daze what it is. By bringing in a national act, our local guys can play on a bigger stage, and they shine. Shorty the Giant, Project X, and Spred the Dub played their little hearts out for bigger crowds for which Badfish's crazy Sublime energy paved the way. If you didn't have ears, you would have missed it."
We realize that it is only their second year, but it already feels like it wouldn't quite be summer without Propaganda's Summer Daze music series. The all-out block party is a culmination of pure energy -- from local music's finest offerings, skate competitions, and pools -- South Florida culture all comes together on J Street. It's basically summer camp for big people. Your same friends are there each time, and you indulge in a day full of activities until you basically pass out.
More than a good time though, Summer daze is important for your mental health. Prop cranks out bad ass shows all year, but Summer Daze is now an essential element in an increasingly blah season. Where else are we supposed to go in the summer that serves up this much fun?
This weekend kicked off the first of the three in the Saturday series. It was the full day dose we needed. While your sheer presence might be enough, here are a few more ways you can prepare for the next glorious seasonal jam -- day two with Lit. - Dana Krangel - writer for New Times (Music Magazine )
Project X Guitarist, Benji Rountree's brother, David Rountree, has success in Hollywood - David wrote and produced the movie and Benji acted in the movie playing the role of "Party Guy" - released nationwide in Theatres and On Demand Sept. 2014 - David won 4 Indies at the Indie Film Festival including 2 individual Indie awards for Best Feature Film and Best Director.
"From the varsity football field to the acting stage, David Rountree has done it all. Rountree attended Elon for his first two years of college, where he played varsity football and baseball, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. And now, he’s making a movie.
Rountree’s baseball movie, “108 Stitches” hits theaters September 12. He says that many scenes in the movie are “twisted” versions of things that happened during his Elon baseball career.

Although Rountree finished his athletic and academic careers at North Carolina State University, he credits Elon for igniting his film career. He believes Elon’s professors played a big role in inspiring him to pursue cinema.
“It was Kevin [Boyle, Elon professor] who taught me the fundamentals of storytelling and instilled a belief in myself in regard to writing,” Rountree said. “I am still in contact with Kevin to this day.”
The young director is excited for viewers to see the movie, saying “[it is] the kind of movie where you kind of smile all the way through.”
The cast of “108 Stitches” includes Golden Globe winner Bruce Davison, as well as Larry Thomas, who is known for his role as the “Soup Nazi” on “Seinfeld.”
In addition to promoting “108 Stitches,” Rountree’s other film, “CUT!”, will debut later this year. The film is a dark, psychological thriller that has already received attention at the 2014 Independent Film and Television Festival, getting Best Film and Best Director nods.
Rountree is also currently co-producing a comedy called “Multiplexing,” featuring Hilary Duff and John Heder.
Hoping to continue to make movies well into the future, Rountree says he is taking everything “one game at a time” for now."
