"PRGRM"

grm, an unearthly power that very few bands can really capture. I really dig the vocals, they provide at best they provide a sort of ethereal quality that really pushes the sound to a new level. With their regular pulse and solid drum beats these guys don't just appeal to pop fans, I to find their music quite enjoyable and think it might provide a nice backing track to everyday life. Interesting and dynamic I'm excited to hear more from this band (Unfortunately right now they only have two tracks up on their Facebook page) because the future seems very bright for these electronic music masters.

"Get With The PRGRM Experience"

I was driving to Ocean Beach for a show the other night. Realizing it was a Tuesday, I also reminded myself that I was going to Winston’s, a club known for booking a LOT of reggae acts… And the band I was going to go see perform? Prgrm (pronounced as “program”) - An electronic/rock group led by singer and multi-instrumentalist, Tza Drone. Interesting.
While I was a little confused by the venue that the show was being held at, I was there early. Got a drink, dug in and talked with some friends, and watched the band’s set-up and sound check.
What struck me was the band’s array of instrumentation. From what I could see, they had two guitars, two synthesizers, bass guitar, (bassist also ran a Mac laptop for backing tracks) and an acoustic drum kit.
Admittedly, I had very little experience listening to Prgrm’s music, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. However, I was in for a nice surprise from the band that was originally formed in San Diego in 2011 and is currently living, rehearsing, and recording in the desert heat of Calexico, CA.
The performance started with the song “Eavesdropper”, and the electronic sounds meshing with rock caught me off guard (in that wonderful way). By the second song, "Devil’s Cellar" - (a hard hitting, yet ambient rock song with heavy keys and effects), I was hooked. Immediately, the band had proven its tightness and skill in blending an awesome mix of amplified guitar riffs, heavy hitting drums, synth backing, and (great) vocals.
Prgrm’s lineup is well rounded and the band immediately struck me as awesome… Tza is a perfect front-woman for the group: she looks the part, she performs like a pro - expertly switching from guitars to synthesizer and (awesome) vocoder work, to additional percussion while singing thoughtful lyrics and melodies to accompany the ambiance and power of their music. The songs are well written and smart - a product of Tza and Daniel Corrales' (Bass Guitar & Keys) writing prowess, with Daniel himself filling the role as Producer.
Guitar player Salvador Moreno stood stage right playing perfectly appropriate parts, with drummer Yeyo keeping everything synchronized through click track mastery and raw, hard hitting drumming. The display of technology mixed with acoustic/electric instruments was impressive, as there were backing tracks to thicken the sound. Make no mistake, the balance was just right, and the sound and performance was a raw rock experience.
The band played a very strong six song set and left the crowd hungry for more with their display of great musicianship, unusual sound, and stage presence.
Electronic Rock in San Diego may very well be on the rise! It certainly has its place here. - The Catalyst San Diego's Rock and Metal Press

"The Great Demo Review"

There's something to be said about a band that can strike a balance between being dark and still sonically pleasurable enough that people would actually want to listen them. Lyrically and musically, this four-piece isn't doing anything that's particularly innovative. They're just trying to find that balance. And while I wasn't initially wowed by this balance, what struck me was that songs like das uber-synthy "Leipzig" and the arena-ready "Rebel" were buzzing around my head days after hearing them. "Phantom" sounds like one of those heartbeat-paced Nine Inch Nails remixes from the mid-'90s, complete with lyrics and a bass-drum beat that's just all lust and longing and libido. "Hourglass" unfolds like one of those playfully seductive Grimes songs, but then, just as you think the song is ending, a tin-like beat begins, the guitars and keyboard whirlpool around it and frontwoman Tza (no relation to Wu-Tang members, as far as I can tell) robotically chants "just come with me" over and over as if she were saying it to all of humanity. That song, much like the album overall, is eerie and seductive at the same time, like the world coming to an end, but at the hands of really hot robot overlords. And with a kick-ass soundtrack. prgrmmusic.com

PRGRM

Formed in San Diego, California by Tza and Daniel Corrales in 2012.  PRGRM is a group with a diverse and eclectic approach, combining electronics with rock instrumentation to create their sound.

The idea behind the new experiment was to simply create computer generated sequences and percussions, over a backdrop of live instruments. With no genre in mind, other than just trying to make music with an experimental edge, while refusing to get stuck in a box in terms of creativity..

Huddling in the bathroom late at night, a PRGRM emerged among the members of the project. A wall of sound was erected, keyboards destroyed and shows played as the band gained traction, effectively stamping the band into the local circuit.  Overtime, the band was set on steady rotation on San Diego radio stations such as 91x and 94.9, as well as aired on NBC (Soundiego).

It’s all about making music and seeking art as a way to explore, communicate and express regardless of genre definition and other limitations.

"Hourglass" unfolds like one of those playfully seductive Grimes songs, but then, just as you think the song is ending, a tin-like beat begins, the guitars and keyboard whirlpool around it and front woman Tza (no relation to Wu-Tang members, as far as I can tell) robotically chants "just come with me" over and over as if she were saying it to all of humanity.
