With the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics only days away and Russia's anti-gay propaganda law still in effect, a number of artists have released videos in protest of the country's treatment of their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Now, Brooklyn-based band Potpourri of Pearls has released their video for "Sochi."
Featuring queer icon Justin Vivian Bond, the video is campy and brilliant, and a hilarious response to Russia's crackdown on members of the LGBT community.

In what is one of the strangest videos we have seen in awhile, Potpourri of Pearls gives Out the exclusive premiere of a homemade-looking kink tape for their new single, "Nico." The video, which features "found footage," reminds us of "Pieces of Gold" by The Aikiu, which featured legit vintage porn (spliced with contemporary footage of the band).
Meanwhile, the song (from their forthcoming album, We Went To Heaven, out Feb. 11) sounds like it belongs on the Sixteen Candles soundtrack. The track recalls the synthpop world of The Thompson Twins—and we can't stop listening to it.

Bio
Formed in 2011, Potpourri of Pearls plays evolving, danceable music, drawing from mainstream pop/r&b, house, new wave, and a perversion of 90s easy listening music. The project of Adam Chad Brody and Sam "Sally" Allingham, PoP often invites guest vocalists and dancers to join their live performances. Their first album, Why Does Coco Cry, was dark and murky. It was released in 2012 along with artwork by Sylvia Sleigh and a music video for each song. Their second album, We Went to Heaven, was released on Feb 11th 2014. Based in NYC and Philadelphia, they have toured throughout the Eastern US and have been featured on The Wow Report (World of Wonder), BBC Radio, The Huffington Post, BUST magazine, Gayletter, Catch Fire, Out Magazine, The Advocate, and Silent Shout.
