Play Dead is comprised of veterans of the Lawrence, KS. music scene with very diverse backgrounds: Jazz, Afro-beat, Alt-Country, Blues, Funk and Singer-Songwriter, etc., who deliver a unique and dynamic presentation of the music of the Grateful Dead. Formed in 2014, and not content to be just a theater recreation of the Dead, the band has been playing regularly in Lawrence and Kansas City the last two years building the repertoire and tightening the screws to stand out and contribute to the conversation in a very crowded and competitive market. Play Dead is a professional band, patiently prepared for success, that can deliver the goods and is ready to step out onto a larger stage in 2017.
