Seasoned songwriter/poet, recording/performing artist, considered a prolific songwriter with over 165 songs written during the past 3 years alone, and named among the best songwriters currently writing by the Atlanta Recording Community. Papa Usry is at home on stage and engages an audience. His songs are positive answers to today's divisive times, writing of love for family, relationships, and embracing diversity and inclusion. Never fearful, he also writes of current social & political issues with insight & humor, warning of the consequences of hate speech and divisiveness.
Papa Usry records & performs with his sons as Usry & Sons, but also often performs as a soloist. He writes both for solo and band, and is a strong vocalist, guitarist, pianist and can handle a harmonica with beautifully melodic lines.
A Papa Usry performance is always a memorable experience, and his songs will capture one's imagination, heart and soul.
