Ghost /\/ Ghoul is one of the most consistent not only in quality, but in keeping his name relevant. Coming fresh off the Janus [A] release in January, Gold/\/ is a collaborative effort between the Florida producer and San Antonio’s, Blues. They both come correct with 16 of the most solid tracks pieced together by their master minds. With few features, they are left to hold down most tracks on their own, and they dominate. 2014 seems to be bringing out the best of everyone’s abilities so far and after listening to the tape in its entirety 3 times in a row, it dawned on me that I really love this album. The production is top notch and tells its own story, tracks like “Red Light District” have such a different approach from “mainstream” music that it really sticks to your mind. Each hi-hat and bass line fill voids with no overcompensation or overcrowding and having rhymes of such fluid sounds creates one of 2014’s standout albums. Downloading this project is a necessity for another music fan, and a true gift for those who appreciate top tier hip-hop. -
