BARRIE - Barrie's own Outbound Flight will be taking part in Rock 95's Local 'N' Loud competition, at The Mansion Nightclub on April 22.
Outbound Flight formed in 2009 by Andy Kernohan and Jimi Tambling. Stu Cleary joined the band in March of 2011 as their drummer.
The trio will play an acoustic set, with a mixture of covers and original work.
With every member having their own strengths in genres, the band's main influences consist of jazz, metal, and punk.
"Some people have told me we have a similar sound to such bands as the Arctic Monkeys, and Blueprint, but I would like to think that we have a unique sound that separates us from a lot of other bands," Kernohan said.
This will be the bands first performance of 2012, and see this as a great opportunity to gain experience.
"We were in the studio for majority of 2011, so we're all excited to get back on stage, and show everyone what we got," Kernohan said.
The band released its EP in September, 2011, and are in midst of arranging bookings to promote it.
Local 'N' Loud is popular for young bands to gain some needed stage experience, and possibly win the full length CD recording contract with Lake Effect Studios, and Wellcraft Music. The winners will also receive playing time on Rock 95, and will receive exposure to the Canadian Music Industry. - Barrie Advance

THURSDAY: Open Mic featuring Nikki Sto.
FRIDAY: Lab Cats, Crowns for Convoy, York Rivalry and Outbound Flight.
LabCats are a progressive, psychedelic rock band from Barrie. The band, featuring Aaron Casey, Mike Edward and Shawn McCaig features energetic vocals, clean guitar, tight basslines and passionate stage performances.
SATURDAY: Shakedown Combo, The Dirty G-Strings and New Ghost.
The Shakedown Combo have the attitude that Rockabilly can be contemporary, not simply a sound from past decades revived by cover bands whenever retro becomes fashionable. The track-list of their debut album Burnt Out Hot Rod Car displays that they favour original material over reworking the old classics. Originating from England, the band is currently Nova Scotia, Canada based but keeps mobile. - Barrie Advance

Bio
Outbound flight was originally formed in 2009 by Andy Kernohan and Jimi Tambling as a two piece acoustic set, playing a mixture of covers and original work.
In march 2011 Stu Cleary joined the band as the drummer and Outbound Flights line up was complete. While still playing acoustic numbers the band has evolved into a rock sound with the addition of percussion.
Jimi Tambling comes from a jazz/punk influence which shows with his distinct style on the bass. Stu Clearys metal background gives a wide variety of rhythm which is the driving force behind the band. Andy Kernohans rock 'n' roll style fronts the band.
Putting it all together has created the unique rock sound of Outbound Flight.
