Canadian music icon David Wilcox will be the featured opening night performer for Kerrfest — which runs Friday and Saturday (Sept. 8 and 9).
Kerrfest is a free outdoor street festival that has taken place in Kerr Village, the first weekend after Labour Day every September, since 2014.
Wilcox is a brilliant songwriter, a great singer and one of the hottest guitar players in the world. He will be appearing Friday (Sept. 8) at 9:30 p.m.
He first made his name as a wild, live performer and then as a first-rate recording artist. Wilcox has been known for such notable songs as Hypnotizin’ Boogie, Bad Apple, and Riverboat Fantasy.
The Kings and Cindy & The Slammers will perform before Wilcox takes the stage.
Kerrfest organizers have also announced that Loverboy will be the featured performer on Saturday night at Kerrfest, going on stage Saturday (Sept. 9) at 9:30 p.m.
Loverboy has sold more than 10 million albums, earning four multiplatinum plaques for more than 30 years. Loverboy is probably best known for the hit song Working for the Weekend.
Before Loverboy takes the stage, Crash Parallel, Jasco, Mindful Audacity and The Smoke Wagon Blues Band will be performing throughout the day.
The festival, which is presented by the Kerr Village BIA, Budds’ and the Town of Oakville, attracts thousands of people from the local area and the surrounding Ontario region.
Kerrfest also includes activities such as: the Kid Zone, the Oakville Car Show, The Beaver Has Landed Skateboard Competition, the Electric Trackless Train Shuttle, and the Kerr Street Mission's family barbecue and its handmade market.
The streets are busy with local merchants who are open for business as usual.

Mindful Audacity is a jazz-fusion band based in Toronto, ON with strong roots in gospel, jazz and R&B. The band first started performing together when they were in their teens.
The group would spend hours gathering at their home performance space, or their community church, to pursue the direction and compositions that would frame the future sound of the group.
Through this process they discovered that their instruments become a common language when performing together.
The group’s influences come from a broad range of artists, styles and genres. Some of these include; Chick Corea Elektric Band, Jamiroquai, Incognito and the Yellow Jackets.
Over time the band has melded together to compose pieces that are both thought provoking and enticing. Audiences find themselves entranced by the powerful, smooth sounds created by Alysha (vocals), Travis (drums), Natoya (bass) and Nathan (keyboards).
The name 'Mindful Audacity' is a representation of the group’s identity and speaks to their inherent characters of being both thoughtful and at the same time daring.
Over the last year the group has created their debut EP, was released in November of 2017. This collection of original compositions tells a story of pain and courage reflective of the group’s identities and influences.
