Either I'm having an early onset mid-life crisis or the cocktails were too strong...? but about half way through our night at Under Current yesterday we fully realized the genius of this new Bowie cover band. Major Tom & The Moon Boys lead singer Tom Larsen's bowie-esque affect and vocal talents are uncannily close to the real thing, and the band was holding their own as well. Great performance and only their second show! Try and catch them sometime. Follow and watch more of their videos here.

"Wow, fabulous Tom! I like how you don't copy Bowie's performances exactly but reinterpret them as though he were doing them live again for the first time. It gives a freshness to the songs -- and your performance. Love on 'ya!!!!" - Travellati--CEO Elizabeth Kemble

Bio
With an "uncanny" sonic and visual resemblance, lead singer Major Tom of Major Tom & The Moonboys seems to literally "channel" the sound and persona of David Bowie, standing apart from the sometimes garish, typical "tribute act" performer. Backing band "The Moonboys" likewise sound as if they've just come off one of Bowie's lauded world tours.
"Major Tom" (Tom Larsen) is indeed a longtime Bowie fan since childhood and has obviously imbibed and absorbed so thoroughly the music, persona, affectations etc., of the Thin White Duke that he presents a kind of organic similarity which some have described as "spooky", "uncanny", "transportive".
And just like David Bowie, Major Tom & The Moonboys play a set list which covers not only the "hits" but delves deep into Bowie's musical canon, beginning from his early "folksy" period, through the glam and experimental, on straight through to his late, more jazz-fusion offerings.
There have been, and still are, many Bowie imitators--but Major Tom and his Moonboys distinguish themselves as something more like "revelators" or "channelers" of "The Starman's" iconic musical legacy.
