Blending an array of influences into one gigantic bouillabaisse, this foursome may not exactly be The Beatles, but c’mon, who is? With percussions and vocals piled so high you can safely watch Dick Cheney quail hunt from atop, these seven tracks only need a bit more company to make a full-length release possible, and even then I’d be happy to say “Yeah, dude, I remember when these guys only had enough material for an EP!” - By Derek Blackmon

Green Marie: 3 1/2 stars out of 5

Green Marie have been together for a few years but recently started taking it up a notch. In the past few months, they've had gigs at prominent Jersey clubs like the Stone Pony, Obsessions and Stanhope House in addition to several New York appearances. They're cutting back on the number of shows this July while they work on recording an EP set for commercial release.
The band send over their current 3-song CD for review and it's definitely worth a listen. Their media kit describes the band as having "the DNA of Lenny Kravitz, the Beatles, Tom Petty, and Led Zeppelin are spliced together" and that's not far from the truth. Songs like "Rise" instantly bring the best work of Lenny Kravitz to mind. "Some People" has an irresistable groove to it, and "Don't Be Loved" brings you back in time to the classic rock melodies of bands like Kansas. The CD's production work is excellent. The band's website contains full MP3 downloads of the three tracks available on CD.
The band's website also has clips of two other songs available. "Beautiful But Strange" is a very Beatlesque tune while "Get A Life" is a very strong, power pop track. Green Marie has a setlist that stretches across the spectrum of rock but they manage to pull it off. Keep on eye out for them in the near future.
Green Marie consists of Ray Figueroa (guitar and vocals), Dave Carta (bass and vocals), Pam Figueroa (percussion and vocals) and Brandon Kurzawa (drums). If you're interested in booking Green Marie, contact: Pam Figueroa at 973-229-0041.
