"leMeow - Evening Blues Video"

leMeow is a new soul-jazz duo in Ottawa, comprised of Gin Bourgeois and James Rooke. They’re producing some sweet sounds as evidenced but their first video for Evening Blues, which is the first single off their self-titled EP.

Gin had the following to share about leMeow’s new video, “Evening Blues started as a jam on my 1908 xylophone. Teaming up with James and then Eric Eggleston of Johnny Hall Productions brought those ideas to life. Combine that with the great job Mike did on the video and I couldn’t be happier!”

“The video shoot was a great time! We basically threw a house concert with a caveat that everyone had to wear classic attire. Mike Guilbault of Mock Trial Productions did a great job capturing the evening and condensing it into a 3:23 video we’re proud of,” added James.

Give it a listen and let us know what you think! I can’t wait to hear more. - Spotlight Ottawa

"leMeow Debuts Sultry Sound and Image in Video for Evening Blues"

New indie group, leMeow, has released their debut music video, revealing a sultry sound and image reminiscent of jazz greats like Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington. Distinctly vintage in style, the video successfully captures the essence of Evening Blues, the band’s first single off of their self-titled EP (available on iTunes).

Produced by Mock Trial Productions, the video is rich with visually stimulating content, depicting a room full of elegantly dressed party-goers sipping on martinis and smoking stogies while being entertained by the stylish members of leMeow.

Frontwoman, Gin Bourgeois, and multi-instrumentalist, James Rooke, are the masterminds behind this project. With Eric Eggleston of Johnny Hall Productions working the board for their debut recordings, the duo successfully married the classic sounds of soul and jazz with the modern edge and appeal of today’s pop trends. DJ Noah of LiVE 88.5 FM said, “If you like Amy Winehouse, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Adele, you’ll dig leMeow!”

"leMeow Releases Self-Titled EP – First Reveal Of The Soul Jazz Indie Duo"

leMeow’s newly released debut EP reveals a soulful sound infused with modern appeal and unique instrumentation. Recorded in Ottawa at Johnny Hall Productions, the three-song EP is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and stand-up bassist, James Rooke and lead vocalist and xylophonist, Gin Bourgeois. Producer Eric Eggleston said, “Working with leMeow’s vintage yet modern grooves enabled me to reach for new and interesting soundscapes. I love it!”

Although relatively new to the scene, Gin explained that leMeow was a long time in the making. “James and I used to play in a band together years ago but we lost touch when he went on tour and I went back to school. About a year and a half ago we ran into each other at a Steam Whistle event with free beer, and the rest is history,” she said with a laugh. The musical duo also received help from David Gains on guitar, Mark Wilson on drums and Nick Gabroussenok on keys for their first studio recordings.

leMeow is expected to reveal the music video for Evening Blues in the coming weeks which will mark their official launch. Their EP is currently available for purchase through iTunes with more to come later in the year.

"A Popup Interview with leMeow"

CK:
Have you ever paid for advertising for the band?

leMeow:
We have yet to pay for any form of advertising for leMeow but we're open to it if it has the potential to expose our music to a wider audience.

CK:
Are you signed to an indie label?

leMeow:
At this point in time we're not signed to a label. We plan to release our first full-length album in the early months of 2016, after which we'll start looking into labels that might be a good fit for us.

CK:
Your latest release is on CD, DVD, MP3 Online, All of the above or Other?

leMeow:
We recently released a self-titled 3-track EP which is available for purchase on iTunes or through our website: http://www.lemeowmusic.com. We generally find that there's less demand for CDs these days which is why we're sticking to MP3 downloads.

CK:
Name and describe your most memorable gig.

leMeow:
Our most memorable gig was at an intimate café in Ottawa, Ontario for a local charity event. Given the venue, James and I decided to do an acoustic set with just the two of us (sometimes leMeow works with other musicians). I think what made it stand out was how attentive and receptive the audience was to our music. If we started to clap, the audience joined in. If we asked them sing a line, they did so without hesitation. It's always a really nice feeling to play for people that are truly engaged - especially when it's for a good cause.

CK:
Do you use Twitter? What do you think of it? Don't forget to share your handle here too!

leMeow:
We use Twitter almost on a daily basis. We find it's a great way to connect with music fans and other artists, both locally and internationally. Our Twitter handle is @lemeowmusic, or you can find us by going directly to our Twitter page: https://twitter.com/lemeowmusic.

CK:
Do you or any of your members read music or tabs?

leMeow:
Both of us have studied and read music but between the two of us James is definitely the music theory nerd. I say this as a compliment though. His in-depth knowledge of musical theory has been a huge asset to us, especially in the recording studio.

CK:
You have been asked to travel outside the US or your home country for a good cause, do you go?

leMeow:
Good cause or not, I think both of us would jump at the opportunity to travel. Any excuse to play music and see the world is a good excuse.

CK:
What is your favorite song on your current album?

leMeow:
"That's My Man" is definitely my favourite song to play live because it's up-beat and energetic. But the more I listen to "Baddest Dream", the more it's starting to grow on me. The feedback we've received so far is that it would be a good Bond movie theme song. Needless to say, if the makers of James Bond are interested then we're willing to talk.

CK:
Post a link to or embed your most well done video: What was the process like in the making of this video and how long did it take to make? Details!

leMeow:
We recently released our first professionally made music video for a track called "Evening Blues", available on our YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRc1G8VL_70 The actual filming of the video was really fun and painless. We basically threw a house party and asked our guests to show up wearing 1960s vintage attire. We had all the scenes we wanted mapped out prior to the event so we were able to capture everything in about three hours flat.

CK:
Let us say that you have been just signed by a major label and they say time to move 2500 miles. Now what, would you be able to move?

leMeow:
I think we would seriously consider it. Music has been a lifelong passion for both James and I so we'd be hard pressed to turn down an opportunity like that. - ClubKnowledge
