Here's what Cashbox Magazine Canada Dec 2014 issue reviewer Iain Patience had to say about our debut CD....."Superlatives simply prevail here. Stunning debut album of great blues with strong Americana and gutsy down and dirty Rock tinges from the JRHB. From LA, this hugely talented Californian trio - only a trio, seems unbelievable with this sound - comprises only Tony Jack Grigsby on Bass - the Jack of the band - Jim Roberts on guitar and vocals, and Mike Harvey on Drums. Material ranges from the old traditional US standard, 'Amazing Grace', here cooked in a refreshingly different slippery, slide sauce, to another nine self-written songs with a great groove going throughout. This is a band that clearly knows its way around the music with a capacity to produce material of enormous quality. If anything, the most surprising thing about this outfit is probably - why haven't we heard of them before now?! Genuinely amazing debut from a truly talented US band. Can't wait to hear their next effort. Onward and upwards, I reckon." Iain Patience - Iain Patience
Jack Roberts Harvey Band, Devil on a Dirt Road (JHRB)---Intriguing Americana trio with a sound born of the blues but not necessarily staying there. Bassist Tony Jack Grigsby and drummer Mike Harvey make a genuinely funky rhythm section grounded in dusty roads as much as gritty juke joints. Guitarist/chief songwriter Jim Roberts channels numerous forebearers while sounding strictly like himself. He has one of the most lyrical slide guitar deliveries of recent times, and his vocals are straightforward, and he's a promising songwriter with very few if any real bugs yet to work out. If George Thorogood had wanted to be the Band as much as a bluesman, the Jack Roberts Harvey Band is what he'd have been. - Las Vegas Blues Society Review / August 2014
“A Fresh Sound in a Familiar Package I really dig these guys. Gritty, rootsy, but with a tight and well-oiled sound. Roberts' voice is easy to listen to -- sincere and authentic -- there's an honesty there that is comforting and necessary for this type of sound. He's a true storyteller. This is rootsy rock n roll at it's best. I think the title of the album -- and the title track -- is a perfect image to describe the way this album makes me feel. Great songwriting, and the groove Mike Harvey and Tony Jack are able to establish throughout just gets into the core. Good traveling music -- good "chillin" music... hey, it's good music! If you haven't already, you should check it out.”

“Devil On a Dirt Road (MP3 Music) Awesome CD, Great Music..... Every song on the CD is awesome and you will be listening to the whole CD over and over again. Great gritty blues sound with great vocals and guitar work.”

“Mar 24, 2014 ~ Maui Sugar Mill, Tarzana CA. The Jack Roberts Harvey Band opened the show last night at CADILLAC ZACK'S MONDAY BLUES PARTY & JAM at the Sugar Mill. I loved the sound of the band and the playing of all three musicians in the band. Jim Roberts on guitar and vocals: for one song he switched guitars and played a guitar made from a cigar box, explaining the history of how it was made on the plantation in the old South. Tony Jack Grigsby on bass and Mike Harvey on drums rounded out the band. I thought it was the first time I'd seen them but was reminded that I saw them at the IBC (International Blues Challenge) a few months ago and they came in second just behind Gregg Wright and I could see why.”

Bio
It’s time to get low-down with the fresh but well-traveled trio, Jack Roberts Harvey Band! The groove, the soul, that attitude we all relate to lives strong here, and is transmitted with pure grade-A authentication. Their music has been described as Blues-Rock, Roots-Rock, Southern-Rock, Americana and even Country. With the release of their debut CD, “Devil on a Dirt Road,” JRHB is now ready to share that music with the masses.
Although a Los Angeles, California based band, JRHB’s music is firmly rooted in the sounds of the American south and Midwest, where band members, Tony JACK Grigsby (Bass Guitar,) Jim ROBERTS (Slide Guitar and Vocals,) and Mike HARVEY (Drums and Percussion,) honed their musical chops.
These veteran purveyors of sweet grit add their own soul to the musical influences of the great blues masters. With the haunting sounds of Cigar Box Guitars and fiery southern rock tradition Slide Guitar dominating the landscape, this trio’s solid rhythm section firmly anchors down the musical foundation. Then they add strong original melodies, lyrics that paint a picture, and vocals with heart to the mix.
Encompassing a full range of styles, Jack Roberts Harvey Band can take you from the front porch of Clarksdale, Mississippi to the South Side of Chicago….and all points in between. They are equally at home rocking the house or performing an intimate ballad. Their sense of humor on stage is contagious and they are clearly having a great time doing what they love…bringing toe-tapping musical joy to audiences near and far. The musical roads of the universe have finally brought these “brothers from different mothers” together to make a sound you gotta feel to know its right!
