ABOUT IMAJ
Known mononymously as IMAJ, the artist fans everywhere call their “Country Darling” is a multi-talented Country singer-songwriter, visual artist, novelist, actress and humanitarian. Born in Miami Beach, FL to a model mother and actor father, 80’s TV icon Philip Michael Thomas (Tubbs of Miami Vice), IMAJ grew up in a “utopian environment where creativity was encouraged.” CMA (Country Music Association) CloseUp Magazine labeled IMAJ "The One To Watch." She was also labeled "The New Face of Country Music" by QueenLatifah.com
IMAJ BACKSTORY
When you listen to IMAJ it takes you back to a time when wishing others "peace and love" was de rigueur and lyrics were something that reached into your soul. As time would have it, everything comes full circle and IMAJ is standing for everything that made us fall in love with music.Whether she had you at 'hello' with her debut single "Guess Who's coming To Dinner", a song about how there's enough space for everyone to be loved, or you're one of the millions who are just now discovering the American Sweetheart through her latest single and viral music video "Colorblind," there's no escaping falling heart-over-heels for IMAJ.
IMAJ is a Country singer-songwriter whose lyrics remind you more of a John Lennon with a silky voice and a twang, than a broken-hearted Garth Brooks. IMAJ's appeal is not only in the purity of her voice - both her speaking and singing voice instantly relaxes you - but it's also in the lyrics and music that she so passionately creates. In her songs she holds up a mirror to American society, as she looks into it herself.
With "Colorblind" her new single from her sophomore album "America's Sweetheart", she has managed to both garner over 1.4 Million+ views and growing on Facebook, while celebrating the beauty of humankind by redefining, with a millennial's perspective, the way we perceive color. In songs like "His Story, Her Story" she shines light on both our men and women in uniform. "Daddy-Daughter Dance" is another hallmark of American culture as she sings about that special bond between daughters and their dads. There are so many gems on IMAJ's album including homages to her favorite sound, the traditional country song, with "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." In a world full of stress IMAJ soothes the mind and spirit, and she does it all with love.
HUMANITARIANISM
Equally known for her humanitarianism as for her multi-talents, Imaj has stated that her main goal is to inspire world peace through music. During her shows she speaks of bringing the world together through the universal language of music. She has campaigned against bullying & advocated for child abuse prevention, volunteered for hospice (two of the songs on her debut album are co-written with a hospice patient), donated her albums for silent auction to the American Cancer Society and horse rescues, performed for childrens hospitals, retirement communities, dog charities and ran an Instagram contest to inspire world peace. Additionally she has supported foundations for education programs and been a major advocate for developing programs and increased funding for children and adults with mental disabilities (NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness). She continues to keep charity work parallel to her musical endeavors.
TOURING
IMAJ travelled to Nashville to float in the CMA Fest Kick-Off parade as well as perform at CMA Fest. She's headlined such venues as House of Blues, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Six Flags Over Texas, Dr. Pepper Arena and her story has been featured on Good Morning Texas, CW33 & Pink Memo, ESPN Radio and Channel 8 evening news. IMAJ has toured with the multi-platinum country singer, Collin Raye. She recently completed a tour for the support of policemen and firefighters with the renowned singer, Billy Dean. She has opened and been a special guest performer for noted artists like LeAnn Rimes, Clay Walker, Lorrie Morgan, Gretchen Wilson and Neal McCoy.
