After teasing us with some singles, Hellish Torment have now released their self-titled debut album of black metal. Hellish Torment may be from Michigan, but this is a band which are in love that Norwegian, 90’s second wave black metal sound. However, instead of being blatant copycats like a lot of their peers, Hellish Torment bring in large swathes of death and thrash metal into the mix which actually makes this release quite interesting and keeps things fresh from the usual black metal tropes. Yes, ok, it’s got tremolo picking and its got blast beats, but that’s what you want, and Hellish Torment deliver. This means that this album sets the bar high for Hellish Torment and it will be interesting to see how they approach their next release. - Metal Digest

Formed in 2016, Hellish Torment has been hard at work creating black metal that is heavily inspired by melodic death metal and thrash as they bring lots of speed and neoclassical shredding to black metal. Their self titled debut album came out on April 26 of 2024.
