Bio
If you thought the word “rockstar” was a thing of the past… a romantic term of times gone by, since watered down by manufactured pop idols, you haven’t experienced GoldMoon. Cultivated from experience and influence transcending most every walk of life and musical genre, GoldMoon is a Cleveland, OH based hip-hop duo whose sound fuses the intriguing styles of “psychedelic trap” with the ever-popular “electronic dance” vibe, all with a dark, grim twist. With backgrounds in a multitude of musical genres, the two 21-year old artists/producers, Mondo, the Moonrock and Goldfacemoneywatch, formed GoldMoon in 2014. The pair’s latest album, Black Cat, is the pinnacle of a long, passionate musical journey paved with hard work and unrivaled creativity. The two rappers have been writing, recording, and producing on projects both individually and in collaboration for seven years. The duo most notably honed their craft first in the genre-fusing psychedelic internet group Thumbnugget, then more importantly moving onto forming the nationally-recognized and respected hip hop collective DO$EMONEY. While the functional duration of this group was short due to so many strong, separate creative forces, their impact was big locally and nationally putting out 2 projects DO$E and Bear, both of which received thousands of downloads upon release and continue to grow today as cult classics. What followed was the emergence of two full-time, creative artists determined to carry on the unique brand and genre they had helped pioneer. With aspirations to combine their vast musical influence with the modern day 1960’s rockstar lifestyle they had grown to embrace while touring cross-country with their previous two groups, Mondo and Goldface formed what is now known as GoldMoon. After a string of sold out shows in their hometown, they sought out connection with their ever-growing national fanbase by playing shows nationwide, making their rounds from the east to the west coast. In 2014, the duo released their first album, The Rabbit Hole, which was written and produced while in Nashville, TN. In the words of Goldface, The Rabbit Hole reflected “a crazy time” in the duo’s life, referring to the ups and downs of a hard working, traveling group living the lifestyle described in the 13-song album. Immediately after returning home from Nashville, Mondo and Goldface got back to work on their sophomore album, Black Cat. Rejuvenated and highly motivated, GoldMoon produced a more upbeat album with traces of old influence. Black Cat, released in 2015, is the culmination of the pair’s journey, combining EDM style beats with lyrics that tell a story, all while staying true to the duo’s psychedelic trap rap roots. In the words of Mondo, "the train only has one speed," and GoldMoon shows no signs of slowing down.
