All Showcase winners will receive a paid 45-minute set, full Winterfolk Festival publicity and promotion, hospitality, festival passes, a spot in the merchandise area, and more. Toronto's Winterfolk Festival is selecting artists to fill showcase stages in February 2011. In addition to the genres listed on this page, Winterfolk is now programming family entertainment. Winterfolk has been extended to four days to celebrate Ontario's Family Day, and accepting submissions from family and children's musicians.

All Showcase winners will receive the following:

• A paid 45-minute set and a minimum of one additional shared set as part of a workshop or seminar; there are 10 slots reserved exclusively for Sonicbids artists!


• Full Winterfolk Festival publicity and promotion! Selected artists will have their pictures and/or bio featured on the Winterfolk website, in print advertisements, flyers, the Winterfolk program guide, and in other applicable forms of promotion.


• Radio spot and interview consideration! Your band's name and contact info will be sent to press lists for inclusion in radio and other media. In addition, press and other prominent industry people will be alerted to your set times and locations.


• Artist passes for access to the stage, backstage, and hospitality privileges valid for the duration of the festival. You will also receive passes to attend private artist parties and an information session.


• A spot in their merchandise area; they will take care of sales for all of your merch-related products.

They will do everything they can to ensure that your Winterfolk weekend is a rewarding personal and musical growth experience and a large step forward in your career. The event will also include workshops for guitar playing, songwriting, industry seminars for musicians, and more!

They encourage genres including, but not restricted to, singer/songwriter, roots, blues, acoustic, folk, ethnic, pop, world, native, country, and children's.



Winterfolk is committed to offering performance opportunities and public exposure to new or emerging artists - and all artists with little or no festival experience. Letters from last years' showcase winners are posted on The Association of Artists for a Better World's website, ABetterWorld.ca.

  About the only thing the seventh annual Winterfolk roots/folk/blues festival coming to the Danforth over the Feb. 13 to 15 weekend can't offer you is warm weather and the outdoors. But what it can offer is plenty of the music you would hear at a summer festival - all in the warmth of a couple pubs on the Danforth between Broadview and Chester subway stations.
