Unisong International Song Contest

Welcome to the on-line entry process for “Unisong”, the International Song Contest created for songwriters, by songwriters since 1997. We pride ourselves on the personal attention we give our entrants, unique opportunities, pioneering innovations, and having fun trying to stay one step ahead of the pack. What do you expect from a bunch of veteran songwriters like us?



We are new and improved with over $60,000 in cash and Prizes and over 16 categories, including our latest one-of-a-kind Grand Prize that puts the “i” in international – a one-week all expenses paid writing and performing retreat to your choice of Ireland, Costa Rica, Denmark, Crete, Sweden, Iceland, Spain, Big Sur, or New Zealand in conjunction with Music Bridges & Listening Room International Songwriter Retreats.



Past Unisong Grand Prize winners have had the opportunity to write with the likes of Burt Bacharach, Peter Buck, Jimmy Buffet, Gary Burr, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Stewart Copeland, Rodney Crowell, Lamont Dozier, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Frampton, Indigo Girls, Montell Jordan, Gladys Knight, Lisa Loeb, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Joan Osborne, Lee Roy Parnell, Bonnie Raitt, Brenda Russell, Andy Summers & Don Was in previous retreats.

Past success stories include 1997 Grand Prize winner Lindy Robbins, discovered by Polygram/Universal Music at our Ireland retreat and since having cuts with Faith Hill, Clay Aiken and recent co-writer of “Incomplete” for the Backstreet Boys.

We are offering 16 songwriting categories this year: Pop Ballad, Pop Uptempo, Rock/Alternative, Country, AAA/Americana, Acoustic/Folk, R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap, Dance/Electronica, Gospel/Christian, Jazz/Blues, Children’s, Instrumental (Any style), Seasonal/Specialty (Xmas, Patriotic, Broadway), World Music/Reggae (Any language), Social Political, & Lyrics Only.



In addition, we are also debuting a special Performance category in partnership with Performer.com where artistic performance is judged equally along with the song quality.



Songs overall are judged on originality, melody, composition, & lyrics (when applicable). You don’t need a professional recording to enter. You may submit as many songs as desired in each category or enter the same song in more than one category. We offer discounted entry fees for multiple entries. Take advantage of our early bird deadline and save $$ on every entry submitted on or before December 15th.



In addition, all entrants in all categories will receive a complimentary SongU.com self-paced course ($39.95 value), and a free 30 day membership with Onlinegigs (a $20 value) just for entering. As an extra bonus besides the $$ saved, all entries received before the early bird deadline will receive a 6 month free membership with Onlinegigs (a $126 value).

Other features include a Discmakers/Unisong Volume 2 Winner’s compilation CD promoted around the industry, and a critique option for any song for $10 (once you submit your first song, this option will become available). Our team of knowledgeable & helpful critique experts are drawn from the same high level pool of songwriters, publishers, artists, & record company executives who do the regular judging for us. It’s a great extra opportunity to receive valuable personal feedback on your current song craft.
