Igniting over 11 days on 75 acres with over 700 bands performing on 13 stages, Summerfest is the world's largest music festival. 60 slots are reserved for Sonicbids members.
All selected artists will be compensated and several artists may be chosen as support for national headliners. Since 2006, Summerfest has selected more than 260 Sonicbids artists- 63 last year alone. In the past, Sonicbids artists have provided direct support for Gnarls Barkley, They Might Be Giants, Paramore, and many more./n/nSummerfest has announced an additional 5 slots for Sonicbids artists at the 45th Anniversary festival. Submissions have been briefly reopened until Friday, April 20. This is your last chance to submit to Summerfest 2012.
In 2012, The Worlds Largest Music Festival and Milwaukees cornerstone summer event will celebrate its 45th Anniversary. Since 1968, Summerfest has provided unforgettable live music experiences for fans from around the world. Summerfest attracts over 700 bands, including the music industrys hottest stars, emerging talent and local favorites and hosts a diverse selection of food and beverage vendors, marketplaces and interactive exhibits set against the Lake Michigan and downtown backdrops, creating a festival experience like no other.
Summerfest has reserved at least 60 slots for Sonicbids artists to perform (5 slots are reserved for artists who submit by January 31). Since 2004, Summerfest has selected more than 330 Sonicbids artists - 75 last year alone. All selected artists will be compensated for their performances.
Confirmed headliners for 2012 include Aerosmith, Common, Tiesto, Ziggy Marley, Thievery Corporation, ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, The Roots, Head and the Heart, Young the Giant, Gavin DeGraw, Ben Folds Five, Jimmy Cliff and many, many more.
The festival celebrates diversity in music and features hundreds of local, regional and national performers in genres including everything from Alternative, Country, R&B and Reggae to Blues, Zydeco, Rock, Pop, Latin and more.
2011's performers included:
Kanye West, The Black Keys, Katy Perry, Florence + the Machine, Kid Cudi, Def Leppard, Sugarland, Jason Aldean, Cage the Elephant, and many more.
Summerfest 2012, which will be held June 27-July 1 and July 3-8, will continue to provide exciting and affordable entertainment for all ages and musical tastes, plus a variety of food, shopping and children's activities.
