The Opportunity
Sound of Music Festival is the largest annual outdoor gathering of free, live music in Canada. Featuring a unique blend of new and emerging artists, the event presents family fun in one amazing lakeside location Burlington Downtown and Waterfront. Attendance has been over 200,000 people for each of the past five years. Sonicbids artists are eligible to play any of the 10 performance areas at the festival. The festival is primarily run from a professional volunteer base and is a not-for-profit organization.
Past Performers Include:
July Talk, The Cult, Mother Mother, Weezer, Headstones, Silverstein, Colin James, I Mother Earth, Jess Moskaluke, Tebey, Lighthouse, Loverboy, The Watchmen, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Offspring, and Spindoctors.
The Band
- Canadian artists preferred
- Preference for acts who have not played the festival in the past 2-3 years
- Family friendly
- All genres except scream or death metal
The Gig
Details:
- Set lengths 30-60 minutes, 1-3 sets depending on stage
- Professional sound may be provided
- Own amp/sound required for some stages
- Lighting provided at larger stages
- Sound engineer provided at larger stages
- Minimal backline (drums and amps) provided at larger stages
- All performances are outdoors (with the exception of Club Series)
- Compensation is negotiated at the time of booking
- Artists retain 80% of their merchandise sales
- Food/drink provided at larger stages
- Artist lounge is available at larger stages
