PLAY: Canada Day Battle Of The Bands at Greenfields Pub & Eatery in Ottawa, Ontario

The Canada Day Battle Of The Bands has slots for up to 25 Sonicbids bands to compete to win $1000 and play the main stage for Canada Day 2015 in Ottawa, Ontario.

25 bands compete live in the Canada Day Battle of the Bands competition held at the 200-cap Greenfields Pub in Ottawa, Ontario. There are 5 weekly preliminary rounds, each featuring 5 bands. The act with the most pre-sold tickets will have their first choice of time slot, followed by the second highest, etc. One semi-finalist is chosen from each preliminary round.

After semi-finals are concluded, the band with the most ticket sales that was not initially chosen to move forward, will win a spot as the wildcard in the finals. The first place winner is awarded a cash prize and a performance slot at Mattamy Homes Canada Day in Barrhaven, Ottawa.

Canada Day in Barrhaven, one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Ontario, is an annual summer event that attracts 30,000 spectators at Clarke Fields. Event highlights include multiple vendors, a Kids' Zone, multicultural shows and live entertainment, fireworks and a performance by the Battle of the Bands winner.

Details:

• Perform 15-20 minute sets
• 1 band from each preliminary round will move on to the semi-finals, for a total of 5 bands
• 5 wildcard spots are also available for the semi-finals
• 1 standard 5-piece drumkit will be provided and must be used by all bands; bands must bring breakables (snare/cymbals/pedals)
• No props and/or backdrops allowed

• 1st Place: $1000 cash, a spot on the main stage at Mattamy Homes Canada Day in Barrhaven, future weekend gig at Greenfields Pub (all proceeds from the door go to the band)
• 2nd Place: $400 cash
• 3rd Place: $300 cash
• 4th Place: $200 cash
• 5th Place: $100 cash
