Summary
The New Jersey Folk Festival is booking at least seven (7) Sonicbids artists for the Shore Stage in 2020.
Artists receive a $150 honorarium and are featured on the Folk Festival website and in the official program book.
The Opportunity
The New Jersey Folk Festival is the oldest continuously held folk festival in New Jersey and it is celebrating its 45th annual event. This day-long, free, not-for-profit festival features four stages and hosts 16,000 attendees. The 25th annual Singer-Songwriter Showcase will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Rutgers University.
The primary focus of the festival is indigenous folk forms passed down via family, home, and community traditions. We also like to recognize regional folk artists in an effort to foster and encourage these "new" folk singer-songwriters in their contemporary society. We are particularly interested in artists submitting songs about the State of New Jersey.
Judging of submitted songs is done by an impartial panel. This is based on originality of lyrics and melody, as well as vocal quality.
