Summary

Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (FRFF) is a four-day community folk music and dance festival at the foot of the Berkshire Mountains in east-central New York State. July of 2008 will mark the 20th anniversary of the FRFF.

The festival will take place on July 24 – July 27, 2008, and will be held on the Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, New York near the MA/CT/NY border. The festival has 4 stages: The Main Stage, Dance Stage, Family Stage and Workshop Stage. Dance Stage artists are usually booked first, Main Stage next and the Family Stage last. The Workshop Stage features different combinations of performers booked on one or more of the other 3 stages sharing sets on a variety of topics. Some performers are booked specifically for one stage but most appear on more than one.

Artists submitting to this showcase will be considered for a performance on the Main Stage on Friday, July 25th, 2008, the second day of the festival. While there is no compensation for this showcase, artists will receive full admission and on-site camping for the entire festival, meals, and one guest pass. Additionally, artists can sell merchandise, but there is a 10% cut that will go back to the FRFF. All submissions to the Showcase are being held exclusively through Sonicbids.

Past performers at FRFF include GRAMMY winners Shawn Colvin and Alison Krauss, also Ani DiFranco, Greg Brown, Dar Williams, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, Bill Morrissey, The Nields, Moxy Früvous, The Flirtations, George Marshall with Wild Asparagus, Odetta, Chris Smither, Cheryl Wheeler, Tom Paxton, Richard Thompson, Roger McGuinn, Catie Curtis, Patty Larkin, The Horseflies, Sloan Wainwright, Martin Sexton, The Kennedys, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Andes Manta, Hoopoe the Clowne, Kim & Reggie Harris, Magpie, Dan Bern, disappear fear, Viva Quetzal, The Bobs, Ulali, Vance Gilbert, Ferron, Bob Malone, Ellis Paul, Susan Werner, Karen Savoca, Mustard's Retreat, The Ivy Vine Players, Eddie From Ohio and many, many others.

How Do They Decide Who To Book? The Artistic Director makes all programming decisions but before decisions are made, their audience surveys are carefully tabulated. A great deal is decided by the audience including specific artists and types of music considered.
