2016 Telluride Blues Challenge

SBG Productions is booking up to 6 Sonicbids artists as finalists for the Blues Challenge at the 2016 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. The winning artists receives a prize package including a Martin guitar, a slot at the 2016 festival, and $300 cash.

The Telluride Blues Challenge takes place on the Saturday of the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival during the annual "Blues for Breakfast" event. 6 talented blues acts play 20 minute sets for judges and a crowd of 150-200. Acts will be judged on blues content, vocals, instrumentation, originality, and stage presence. Acts are judged by music professionals, music enthusiasts, and one audience member. 

To be considered, the submitting acts must include 2 recordings that do not make use of a backing band (judges evaluate the submitting acts musicianship). 

SBG Productions is a full service event and festival production company. Established in 1994, they specialize in unique, multi-faceted live music experiences.

Previous Performers Include:
Alex Maryol, Ben Powell, A.J. Fullerton

• Blues and blues-influenced acts only
• Any blues act with 1 or 2 musicians (including vocalists)
  
• Electric & acoustic instruments allowed
• Submit clean recordings with no backing band
• Original music encouraged but covers accepted
• Act must be able to attend event on September 17, 2016 and is responsible for travel and accommodations

Details:

• Artists must submit 2 songs in application
• 20-minute set
• No loop machines allowed
  
• Contestant order will be randomly assigned
• Recommended time limit for each song is 5 minutes
• Musicians are judged on use of instruments, vocals, & overall performance
• Performances start at 9 AM
• No travel/accommodations provided

• 1 Winner receives a Martin guitar, $300 cash prize, a 20 minute side stage set at the 2016 Festival and a 60 minute Blues Stage set at the 2017 Festival
  
• 1 Runner up receives a $200 cash prize
• All finalists receive one 3-day pass to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival and a $25 gift certificate to the Telluride Music Company
