Artists often ask how they can improve their chances of getting selected to gigs they've applied to on Sonicbids, where the factor will be based on your content from your EPK.
Application requirements may differ from gig application to gig application. For instance, a songwriting contest will ask that you add a song and its lyrics with your application, which means other songs that are up on your EPK won't be considered for that contest.
In the case your band does not fit the gig requirements, please do not expect to hear back from a Death Metal radio show if you're looking to play Country music on their live radio show.
What to Consider When Submitting Your Application
Genre
Gigs will specify what type of music bookers are looking for:
We understand the genres listed may not be as specific for some artists would like. If an opportunity is accepting Techno or EDM and you're EPK shows you have yourself under Electronica, it's suggested to update your EPK with the corresponding genre accepted in order to apply.
Your Music
Your EPK is submitted with every application you submit. The main consideration bookers will want upfront from you will be your music uploaded to your EPK. Bookers/Promoters listen to a lot of music every day and will generally have a good feel for you in the first 30-90 seconds. Making it a priority to include your best material up front and/or most up-to-date material would be a critical path to consider. For a more in-depth explanation on how your EPK is reviewed, please see this article.
Location
Many of our opportunities accept submissions from artists all over the world, however, certain opportunities may only be looking for artists from a specific region. Please read all requirements before you press ‘Submit’ so that you won’t be surprised when you are not considered for a particular gig you applied to.
