"Eileen Carey is a stranger to the European music scene. That's a pity, since she would definitely be able to build a fanbase over here. Movin On contains honest, simple music that is easy on the ears. What's also easy on the ears is Eileen's voice: it goes strikingly well with the genre. Movin On is a well crafted album that I am sure will grace many music collections all over the world."
- Mattijs (Guido Makor), Mooimuziek.NL (Jun 15, 2012)
"Carey’s music is reminiscent of the Stones tapping into country with a female Jagger... Her vocal style is a bit Reba McIntire with a touch of Bonnie Raitt thrown in…Carey delivers very solid vocals; she and her band play well together and they have a tight, cohesive feel that can only come from experienced and well-rehearsed players…Carey’s material is strong enough to find a wide audience."

““Upbeat, easy on the ears, blue skies and country sunshine – that’s the sounds of Eileen Carey!! I must admit – although I’m from Texas – I somewhat tend to favor rock and pop music over country music. But I also must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to several of Eileen Carey’s songs when I received them. They got my attention and kept my attention throughout each of the songs. The bright acoustics, clever lyrics and crystal clear sounds of Eileen Carey may just be the type of country music I could really become a BIG fan of. Send me more Eileen!!” SONGWRITERS WEBCAST”

Altadena singer Eileen Carey brings her award-winning sound to Venice Beach Sunday, By Carl Kozlowski 07/24/2014
In a place famous for rock bands ranging from The Beach Boys and The Doors to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and No Doubt, Eileen Carey is breaking the mold en route to success. An Altadena resident, Carey has parlayed her love of country music into a career that has so far resulted in four CDs, a number of awards and a slew of concert appearances nationwide, as well as a recent publicity tour of radio stations in the South and Midwest.
But her favorite shows are the ones in which she can be close to home, mainly because she and her husband Joe save feral cats and have provided homes to many of the felines over the past few years. Carey will be performing at noon Sunday at the 6th Annual Summer Fest in Venice, bringing country to the coastline as the official spotlight artist amid a daylong event that offers plenty of other fun in the sun as well.
“This is my third year doing Summer Fest, and you can’t get any better than being on a beach performing,” says Carey. “The best part is that a lot of the proceeds go to feed the homeless and to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
Carey grew up in Willowick, a suburb of Cleveland, and credits her Ohio upbringing with giving her a different perspective on country music than most of her artistic peers. She was surrounded by rock music there before moving to California to work in a Sheraton Hotel as an assistant beverage director, and it was her experience there that inspired her to go pro as a performer.
“I saw lots of performers whom I thought I was just as good as or better, so I decided to go back to performing myself,” says Carey. “I studied theater, acting and vocal classes and recorded my first CD. It went to AC (adult contemporary) radio first until a country music sales rep said to try country.”
Carey calls her style “West Coast Country” because she considers her songs to be a mix of the sounds that were prevalent in every town or city she’s lived in. Her determination to develop her own sound has paid off with her being named by the local CBS television station KCBS as one of the top 10 rising female musicians in Los Angeles.
That’s not the only recognition Carey has received, however. She has won multiple Los Angeles Music Awards, a South Bay Music Award and a nomination for a Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) for the CD “Movin’ On” as well as one for “Let It Go.”
While she is determined to find success as an independent artist outside the major-label system, Carey also has offered her wisdom to other female musicians as a co-founder of FemMuse.com and TheMusicMom.com, which are tied to organizations that provide support and information for women artists and musicians.
“I’ve been building my career and reputation for awhile, and my music is about what’s around me and what people are going through,” says Carey. “I try to give them a little advice musically. Hopefully they take it and use it, but who knows? It’s about showing somebody a different angle in life. I’m a positive person and I always try to see the light in any situation.”
In addition to her work with music and cats, Carey has studied kickboxing at Classic Kickboxing of Pasadena for the past 10 years, raised two kids who went to Pasadena’s Mayfield junior and senior high schools and owned the KFC restaurant on North Lake Avenue before she and her husband Joe decided to sell it off about six years ago. While she and her family lived in Pasadena for seven years, she is happy she made the move to the smaller neighboring community and plans to stay rooted there for a long time to come.
“It’s a great easy place to find room for cats, and that’s important to us because I’ve rescued animals since age 7, and my husband has volunteered with Fix Nation for a long time as well,” explains Carey. “Last year we had a colony of cats in our neighborhood, of babies and adults, and we got them all fixed and released and I found homes for the babies. My husband is going to be going to veterinary technician school and at the end of the year. I donate some of my musical proceeds to children’s and animal organizations. I love to give back.”
Eileen Carey will perform at noon Sunday at the 6th Annual Summer Fest at Venice Beach. Admission is free. Call (562) 277-7174 or visit fx3events.com for more information - Pasadena Weekly
Eileen Carey – Neufutur Mag Interview
By James McQuiston August 23, 2014 Features,
NeuFutur Interviews
1) Let It Go is your latest album. What does it contribute to the story of Eileen Carey, the performer?
I think my music has always had an upbeat, life is good if you just choose to let it happen message in it. It is a personal choice whether to embrace it or not. All my music advocates that embracing….Possibilities 2002, Hearts of Time 2005, Movin On 2009 and now Let It Go.
In the context of your question, I would have to answer that I am sticking to my guns about the messages of faith, hope and doing it; and my music carries that message in the new CD. I am a woman of my word. Do not flip-flop about my beliefs and advice. So in some case this CD is more of the same. A renewal of my commitment to my ideas. Musically as well actually.
2) Which tracks off of Let It Go are your favorites, and what about the efforts make them?
I am a singer as well as a songwriter…different tracks on this CD are favorites for different reasons. I love my cover of Martha Davis’ 1982 hit with the Motels, “Only the Lonely.” Travis Allen Childress, my producer, nailed the ambience of the song. Obviously the first single off the CD, “Let It Go,” who I wrote with Kathryn Grimm has special meaning to me. It is, being the title song, the summation of this album’s specific positive theme.
But I am really excited about the just released second single, “Bottle Your Crazy Up.” Here’s the scene of the song: One woman is telling another not to rebound from a bad breakup too hard and too fast. And here’s what she advises:
“ Don’t order the tequila, ‘cause you know how you get, Don’t talk about your ex, you ain’t over him yet, You can wear the short skirt, but I’d forget the heels, And don’t go on about how you feel. . . . Bottle your crazy up!”
3) What artists possess the greatest influences on your music?
Well, I am going to start off by listing some of my favs that I have sung as well here: Patsy Cline’s “Walking after Midnight”; Chrissie Hynde & the Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong,” also on this Let It Go CD. I always admired Cheryl Crow and did the only version of a Keith Urban and Vernon Rust tune on my last CD Movin On. Songwriters like Diane Warren. I already mentioned “Only the Lonely, and Martha Davis…but also the Beatles, yes the Beatles. I grew up in a suburb of Cleveland playing drums and that had an influence on the tempos of the music I sing.
Didn’t think of my music as “country” specifically, but right from the start country radio picked me up for “That Town”. It originally went to AC but country radio promoter Gene Kennedy picked it up and it got airplay across the country stations.
4) How has your style evolved and changed over the time since your first album?
Music gave me a way to express myself and share what I have learned and what I still hoped for. I am a better singer-songwriter today, but as importantly my style has become more diverse and refined. Let It Go is my best work. Thematically similar to the past, but much more open and fan orientated. We use horns on this record and I even sung a real pop tune in “Walking on Sunshine” that old (late 70s) Katrina & the Wave song. I am country, but I just couldn’t help testing my reach on that. Been performing it on stage lately, and I get nervous every time it comes up in the set; but the response has been gratifying, especially at the Fairs and Festivals where I perform to very diverse crowds on both coasts.
5) Can you describe your creative process and your recording set up for us?
Well, when I start thinking about what is on my mind that needs being said, I start writing songs and looking for material that I identify with and is a challenge for me to sing.
The avenues that my material comes from is as diverse as is my tastes. If I am singing and arranging another songwriter’s song I make it mine. Generally as “Country” as possible. Lyrics are a key element in what I choose to sing.
When I have written or chosen the material I go to Travis and we arrange it so we can send it to these Nashville studio musicians, who have been recording the basic tracks on my music for years now.
The vocals, back-ups, sweeting, solos and other additions are done here in Los Angeles at Travis’ studio. The mixing as well. We master at Sonic Vision Mastering here in Los Angeles.
6) How can interested readers listen to your music?
Google Eileen Carey and you will find my music everywhere. Amazon, I-Tunes, CD Baby:
www.EileenCarey.com
www.reverbnation.com/EileenCarey
www.soundcloud.com/EileenCarey
www.cdbaby.com/cd/eileencarey6
7) Do you have any live dates or performances that you are promoting?
Just came off a very long spring and summer stint of engagements. House of Blues Hollywood, Rippy’s & Honky Tonk Central in Nashville, Spotlight Artist of the 6th Annual VeniceFest on Venice Beach, CA for the Make A Wish Foundation, Orange County Fair, The Grand Ole’ Echo in Los Angeles, The Doll Factory, etc.
Still filling in upcoming dates to go along with a September 22nd to the 26th whirlwind 5 five days running radio and dance club tour for the new single “Bottle Your Crazy Up,” now booked in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
Also, doing a private party acoustic show on Saturday evening, October 18th, at the Kidd’s Jewelry Heist on Mission St. during the South Pasadena Art Walk. And
I am, with other concerned animal and cat lovers, going to produce a feral cat adoption fundraiser and direct adoption event here in Los Angeles in late November or early December for the holiday season. We will play a set, along with some other friends and artists at the event.
Most of my plans for the Fall besides promoting this single, “Bottle Your Crazy Up,” are my writing and recording a 5th CD. Know what I want to do…can’t wait to get back in the studio.
8) What has been your most memorable live experience?
I have been playing homeless events for some years now; and it is hard to imagine a more memorable experience in recent years than the homeless crowd that danced freely and happily to my music during the 5th Annual VeniceFest for the Make A Wish Foundation on July 28th, 2013. I have had plenty of full houses and appreciative audiences, but that particular “Country in the Sand” afternoon is quite memorable to me. This year was fun, but that performance was special.
Obviously, my performance for winning Americana Album of the Year at the L.A. Music Awards was an inspired show. One not easily forgotten.
But my most prominent memorable moment in music came when I first heard myself on the radio in 2002 here in with “That Town” here in L.A. I knew I was home!
9) What goals do you still have left to accomplish in your career?
Everything! As an independent there are so many things you still must reach to be recognized with the household names. No matter what one might think of it, I expressed exactly what I still have left to accomplish in the opening cut on the CD, “Bring on the big.”
On an artistic level I can’t help but want to continue to make good records and make people feel good. I want to increase my song writing skills, and I want to direct movies. My short but somewhat successful career in film, before music took over, as an actress (Hoffa, Basic Instinct and the original Batman film, along with advertising campaigns like my role in one of Ray Charles’ Diet-Pepsi commercials) has left me with a taste for film.
I want to open or a couple major acts this year and next; and I am starting to work on a new CD. You caRead more: http://neufutur.com/2014/08/eileen-carey-interview/#ixzz3BFGf06gmn never stop striving if you want to earn the audience’s attention.
10) Thank you for your time. Do you have anything else that you would like to say to our readers?
Yes, Country music is about real people and their real lives. It is a wearing your heart on your sleeve music. We are regular Joe’s! We like are music to be about what is real and tangible in our - NeuFutur Magazine
One of the hardest thing for human beings to learn is how and when to let things go. So when an artist like Eileen Carey comes along with a powerful message about doing just that, it’s a welcomed sight. The award-winning California-based singer/songwriter’s fourth and latest album LET IT GO features songs which follow through on the theme on letting go of those ties that bind us to the past and perhaps no song is more evident than the title track, “Let It Go,” a thumping up-tempo country pop tune about forgetting the small things or events from our past that lead to insecurities and indecisions of life.
“I always try to give people different options as a way to look at things,” Eileen says. “Because, unfortunately, this world’s been up and down and if I can get them to think about things that maybe they haven’t before, then maybe they can “Let It Go” and get to a better place in their life.”
Below read Eileen Carey’s answers to Digital Rodeo’s “Inquiring Minds Want To Know” questions:

Eileen Carey: Track by Track "Let It Go" by Will Phoenix, April 2014
Your crusty chronicler generally does his own thing. Still, when Examiner asked for support for their “List” format, it was impossible not to be open-minded. So, with that spirit of unity and teamwork in mind, your rockin’ reviewer presents this series—“Track by Track” in which we review certain select CDs literally “track by track”.
In this edition, we peruse Eileen Carey’s Let It Go. But first, for those not on your indie artists, Eileen Carey is an award-winning Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and musician. On this artistic effort she is ably assisted by several supporting artists including: John McDuffie (steel guitar and lap steel), Grant G”nick Nicholas (trumpet), John Heinrich (steel sax and clarinet) and Byron Holly and Heather Wiggins (background vocals).
Carey explains the thought behind this disc: “I always try to give people different options as a way to look at things. Because, unfortunately, this world’s been up and down and I if can get them to think about things that maybe they haven’t before, then maybe they can ‘Let It Go’ and get to a better place in life.”
“Bring On The Big”
Let It Go features 11 songs specifically put together by Carey to present a “theme of letting go of those ties that bind us to the past.” The album opener is “Bring On The Big”. This song, written by Angela Kaset and Amy Dalley, becomes a strong lead-in for Carey. It seems ready for radio but reveals but a hint of the things to come.
"Anything That Reminds Me Of You”
The second selection is “Anything That Reminds Me Of You”. This one was written by Amy Dalley and Jack Sizemore. It is perhaps almost overshadowed a bit by the tracks on either side of it but it still works for Carey’s purposes in terms of the theme of the release and the message she is conveying on the disc.
“Let It Go”
“Let It Go” is the titular track. This, too, is strong enough to work as a standalone song. In fact, it was actually recently chosen to be the first new single off the album and garnered some positive early reviews from fans and critics alike. It’s an upbeat pop/rock piece Carey co-composed with Kathryn Grimm. It works well as the theme song for a CD full of positive messages.
“Don’t Get Me Wrong”
The next number is “Don’t Get Me Wrong”. This is a welcome, refreshing cover of the 1986 Chrissie Hynde-composed classic. It’s one of the best songs on the disc and worked well as a pre-album single release some time ago as well.
Carey commented: “I have been a huge fan of Chrissie Hynde for years, and she like me comes from Ohio. ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’ is a Pretenders song I always wanted to sing but wanted to come up with my own country-pop arrangement of it; always thought it perfect for my blend of country, rock and pop. My producer Travis (Allen Childress) did a great job on the arrangement.”
She added: “Someone compared the guitar sound to the acclaimed Earl Mankey productions for Concrete Blond, and Dave Stewart of the Eurhythmics took special notice of my vocal on the track, which of course his being Annie Lennox’s partner for so many years, super validated my choice of material and of course was very flattering.”
“Party At The Beach” and “Only The Lonely”
“Party At The Beach” follows here. This one is also a collaborative effort between Carey and Kathryn Grimm. It serves to further demonstrate what Carey can do in terms of tuneful team-ups. While the songwriter is fun and memorable enough Carey covers the next cut so well it is all too quickly forgotten. Specifically, Carey’s adaptation of The Motels’ 1982 hit “Only The Lonely” not only grabs your attention but has a musical life all its own.
“Joey”
The seventh song selection on this CD is “Joey”. This is yet another original work co-composed by Carey and Paul Masvidal. It is not only yet another example of what she can do as part of a writing team but with Masvidal as collaborator this time it also shows how her songwriting skills change slightly to adapt to each individual partner.
“Walking On Sunshine”
The next number is yet another worthy adaptation. Carey covers “Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. Her countrified cover cut of the 1985 hit fits in quite well with the overall theme and feel of the album. Besides, it’s just yet another chance for Carey to share the fun she sounds like she’s having here.
“Bottle Your Crazy Up”
“Bottle Your Crazy Up” follows. Not sure about this piece of advice. Sometimes it is good to bottle it up but depending on whose crazy it is there just could be trouble if the bottle fell into the wrong hands. This one was written by Bart Almond and Amy Dalley.
“Sweet Love”
“Sweet Love” is a song that while expected still works. This is yet another Carey-Grimm effort. Cute crooners need something like this and Carey knows how to handle it. She has a way of almost owning songs that are only covers so when it comes to something she co-composed it becomes something you cannot imagine anyone else singing it.
“Love Never Dies”
The album’s endnote is the reassuring song titled “Love Never Dies”. It’s an apropos closing cut co-composed by Carey and Grimm. This is an overall upbeat offering in which she conveys a positive message that reminds us that life is too short to worry about all the little things and therefore sometimes you just have to “Let It Go”.
My name is Phoenix and . . . that’s the bottom line. - L. A. Music Examiner

Nashville's Carey possesses a countrified pop sensibility on this well-recorded album. Her husky delivery gives strong voice to her tunes, mostly co-writes. The material –– "Hearts of Time," "Hollywood" (inspired by her SoCal sojourn as an actress) and "Just To Get To You" –– benefits from the singer's ingenuous vocal persona, as well as some well-chosen backup musicians. Something tells us Carey could be a terrific communicator with children.
- Music Connection 2006

Eileen’s success the other night has also led to another date at Nashville Bluebird Café, as well as an invitation to play more Bluebird Chicksinger Night Showcases around the country.
“I loved playing the Bluebird Café in Nashville, the fans were so welcoming. We’re looking forward to coming back. It’s been good for Garth and it’s certainly being good to me!” said Carey.
Eileen Carey's energetic cover of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" began taking off after her very successful debut on Blair Garner’s syndicated “After MidNite” Country Radio show.
Then, Martina McBride fans noticed that Carey’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” seemed to be attracting more playtime than McBride’s “I Still Miss Someone.” The fans listened to the newcomer and they liked what they heard.
Eileen’s latest CD, Hearts of Time, is surpassing all expectations. Meanwhile she’s working on a new CD collection that includes collaborations with major Nashville songwriters.

Eileen Carey:
Fans Respond on Blair Garner’s
`After MidNite;’
SCMA Nominates Eileen for Award
By Phil Sweetland
Country music and Radio contributor, The New York Times
Blair Garner’s “After MidNite” is likely the most popular syndicated overnight program at Country Radio, with stations and listeners nationwide.
Spins on Garner’s show are treasured by all the major Music Row labels, so when indy artist Eileen Carey’s energetic new cover of Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” was played in a contest on Blair’s show last week, it was big news.
And when listeners gave Eileen’s song 55 clicks out of a possible 100, it was even more exciting.
“Any time you get over 50 percent, that’s great,” said Radio promotion veteran Gene Kennedy of Nashville’s Gene Kennedy Enterprises and Doorknob Records, Carey’s Radio promoter.
Carey said: “Wow, what a Tuesday morning! First, it was amazing to be played on `After MidNite,’ which airs on stations in major and medium markets all across the United States. But then to be the only independent artist on the same list with major-label artists, and having your song picked by the fans – what more could you ask for!”
Carey’s soulful, bluesy performance of the song is a very different interpretation than Patsy’s original.
“I think that the people who are reacting the most to Eileen’s record are not familiar with Patsy’s version,” Kennedy said. “Blair Garner has a younger listening audience, and a lot of his stations are getting calls from their listeners for Eileen’s record.”
That wasn’t the only cool news Eileen and her music received in late January.
Last Tuesday, the title song of her current “Hearts Of Time” album received a nomination for Best Country Song at the Southern California Music Awards. The Awards will be presented Feb. 11 at LA’s Warner Grand Theater.
“What exciting news!” Eileen said. “It was terrific to have my song picked out of all of this amazing pool of talent, and have my songwriting recognized. It’s a great honor.”
With the way things are going for Eileen Carey both at Radio and with fans nationwide, it’s likely to be just the first of many awards and nominations the lovely Californian will soon receive.

(Nashville) Indy country star Eileen Carey’s single “Hollywood” was
released last week and it’s already making waves on country stations
around the country.
Carey’s Nashville fans predict “Hollywood” will be her first big
chart-topping hit. Meanwhile her California country dance fans are
saying “It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This” will be the one.
While both audiences obviously enjoyed Carey’s most recent hit “Walkin’
After Midnight”, her “Hollywood” won the Nashville audience’s heart.
Eileen’s recent appearance at Cowboy Country in Long Beach
California, struck just the right chord with the dancing fans. Her “It
Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This” was the hit of the evening.
Most country dance clubs play songs that their customers already know,
but Cowboy Country fans were ready for something new. Eileen’s music
kept their toes tapping and won their hearts.
“It was great to have the Cowboy Country crowd dancing to my songs. But
I could tell that they enjoyed “It Doesn’t Get Any Better” because it is
different than their usual fare,” says Carey. “And even better, their DJ
has already plugged it into his rotation so they can keep on dancing!”
Lucky fans will be hearing more from Eileen soon. She is planning
several listening parties for her recent CD “Hearts of Time” on country

Hearts of Time

Hearts of Time; Hollywood; Just To Get To You; All Tangled Up; Someone Like You; Blue Collar Man; Lazy 8; Good Time Charlie; Story Of My Life; It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This;
I always like to see it when an artiste decides to dedicate some of the money raised from an album to children's charity, which Eileen Carey has done. A pleasant album of songs about life and times, some of which are written by Eileen herself, notably Hollywood, one of my favourite tracks. I also very much enjoyed the gentle Someone Like You. Good backing arrangements and I like the violin floating through. Another pick was Eileen's own Blue Collar Man, with a funky beat. Lazy is another of her own compositions sung through a megaphone by the sounds of things at the beginning suggesting she is calling out to the lazy one. Song words are in the sleeve.

Eileen Carey has been for quite some time a staple in the L.A. music scene. She is now ready to take her music to a broader audience.
Her music can be heard on over 100 college and 60 popular radio stations, as well as on special stations in the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Japan and Australia. Eileen Carey was also nominated by the Los Angeles Music Awards 2000 as "Best Adult Contemporary Artist".
She was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Influenced by the huge record collection of classic Motown singles her sister had, it has helped her to appreciate all kinds of music and to create the style of country music the writes and sings today. She took vocal lessons when she was 20 years old as well as acting and theater classes. After she went through the various stages, she decided to concentrate on writing and singing of songs, because that's what was in her heart!
And that she is a "full blooded" singer is evidenced on her recent CD release. Each song conveys the feeling that she wrote and sang it exclusively for the person listening.
There is no shortage of original material, penned by Eileen Carey. And here she shines: This woman does it! Musically, those 10 songs sit somewhere between country and neo-country.
The songs were mixed/mastered by Capitol Mastering, which speaks for the sonic quality of this CD.

Martina McBride Fans Follow Eileen Carey
(Nashville) Is country radio punishing the classics, or just Martina McBride? That’s the question McBride fans have been asking as newcomer Eileen Carey appears to get more airtime for her version of “Walkin’ After Midnight” than McBride has since her crossover success.
Indy artist Eileen Carey's energetic new cover of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" has been popular on the secondary radio market since her debut on Blair Garner’s syndicated “After MidNite” Country Radio show.
Now the established country diva, Martina, seems to be sharing her fans with Eileen. And maybe air time. McBride’s fans have noticed that “Walkin’ After Midnight” seems to be attracting more playtime than McBride’s “I Still Miss Someone.”
“I’m just thrilled to be mentioned on Martina’s fansite. But it’s even better to know that her fans are enjoying my music,” said Eileen.
McBride fans aren’t the only ones enjoying Eileen’s music. “Walkin’ After Midnight” was highly rated by fans in a contest on `After MidNite,' which airs on stations in major and medium markets all across the United States.
Reflecting on that success, Carey said: “To be the only independent artist on the same list with major-label artists, and having your song picked by the fans - what more could you ask for!"
Back home in California, the title song of Eileen’s current "Hearts Of Time" album received a nomination for Best Country Song at the Southern California Music Awards.

Eileen Carey's Walkin' After Midnight:
A New Version of a Country Classic
Lighting up Radio Request Lines
By Phil Sweetland
Country music and Radio contributor, The New York Times
Clear Channel's WGAR/Cleveland saw its ratings soar in 2005, when the Country outlet became the top-rated Music station in that vital, Top 25 market.
WGAR got that way by making excellent Music decisions. One of the station's best was to begin spinning the new single by a Cleveland native, Eileen Carey's cover of Patsy Cline's midtempo classic, "Walkin' After Midnight."
"It's very exciting to be played on any Radio station, but your hometown is very special!" Carey said in an interview from her home in Pasadena. "You get to share your Music with your family and friends, the folks who supported you in this Music journey."
It's ironic that "Walkin' After Midnight" was Patsy's first Top 5 Radio single in 1957; Eileen's version, which is a little bluesier than Patsy's original, has been a breakthrough single as well.
The song has already reached the Top 35 of the New Music Weekly Country chart, and is being spun at stations in the USA, Canada, and overseas.
"I have been a big fan of Patsy Cline for a long time, even more now," Carey said. Eileen's cover of "Walkin' After Midnight" is gaining the Cleveland native her own legion of big fans every week.
A Video of the song is being developed, perhaps with images of both Eileen and Patsy, along the lines of the Natalie Cole/Nat King Cole Video of "Unforgettable."
She took up the drums at age 8, and by 13 was writing and performing her own songs. Eileen fell in the love with the music of Motown, the Beatles, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, and the Los Angeles songwriter Diane Warren.
She moved to LA herself in the early 1990s, acted in some movies, got married and had two girls, and became a success in the hotel business as an executive with the Sheraton chain. All the while, she developed her Music and her live act in the busy Southern California club scene.
"I was hiring entertainment for Sheraton Hotels, and now I was the entertainment," she says. "I love playing live, I just feel at home when I'm on stage. I'm very content there."
Soon, Eileen began commuting back and forth to Nashville three or four times a year to write and record. She did some terrific indy albums, Possibilities and most recently Hearts Of Time. She built a very talented and powerful Nashville support team, including producer Travis Allen, co-writers Walter Garland and Joe Alford, Radio promoters Gene Kennedy and Matthew Wilkes, Video director Darren Christianson, and publicist Deborah Danker.
Like many great Country artists, Eileen Carey's life has been a journey. Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Nashville have all left their marks on her unique vocals and songs; now the journey to Country Radio that "Walkin' After Midnight" has launched is taking her straight to the top

Technology’s Great, But Tenderness Is Better
Sings Eileen Carey in “Meet Me Halfway”
(May 13, 2019 Nashville, TN) Sometimes you just gotta zap your app.
That’s Eileen Carey’s cry from the heart in her latest single, “Meet Me Halfway,” co-written by Eileen Carey, Travis Allen, Bjorn Charles Dreyer, Odd Harald Jensen is a song whose images are as current as today’s headlines but whose sentiments are as old and wise as love itself.
At first, we seem to have it all--Paradise in our smart phones: “Isn’t it great--technology perks? You press a button and everything works.” Ultimately, though, these satisfactions are illusory and short-lived compared to the fulfillment of engaging in real life: “What’s more important than what’s in front of you? Life’s passing you by and you never knew. Meet me halfway.”
An Ohio native who’s long lived in southern California, Carey has developed a reputation for singing songs that strip the human experience to its essentials. The lyrics she chooses display a particular genius for zeroing in on moments that give life its tension and flavor—whether it’s via her romantic fantasy “In the Air,” her sadder-but-wiser “Let It Go” or her sisterly advice to an out-of-control friend, “Bottle Your Crazy Up.”
The wisdom and good humor in her songs have built Carey a large and growing audience from Los Angeles to Nashville and earned her near-permanent residence on the New Music Weekly charts. Meet Me Halfway is released via CDX #675, and PLAY MPE May 15.

Interview with Eileen Carey
Singer
February 25, 2024•7 min read
Eileen Carey is an award-winning singer, mother, and music’s best kept secret. Over her career, Carey has amassed over 25 awards and has performed at nearly 80 notable venues.
What motivated you to pursue music professionally?
EC: As a kid I fooled around playing drums. Would sing in lots of school shows as well. Music was always my first love. I came to California to make movies and I was booking entertainment for a hotel chain, and realized I could do as good as the people I was booking. So, I started writing songs and cut a couple in the studio. One was my take on Patsy Cline’s hit “Walking After Midnight.” which was the winning track in a Nashville radio syndicated fan contest where it just won out over Martina McBride. The other track was “That Town,” a nostalgic look back on my youth spent in Ohio. “That Town” soon took off on Adult Contemporary radio. These first two songs convinced me that I really did have the goods to succeed in the music industry.
Where do you draw inspiration from when creating music?
EC: Everyday life. Something I have seen, something I see in the news, someone, feeling or thing that catches my attention. An example is how I came up one of my successful songs called “Meet Me Halfway.”One day I was in a car standing at a traffic light waiting for a greenlight to cross when this young woman is so busy on her phone that she started to cross despite the red light, and I thought that we have become a culture so invested in our social media and phones that we lose sight of what is in front of us, our basic humanity and focus on what is real and in front of us.
Maybe we are so distracted by technology that we cannot communicate with each other directly enough to compromise, or really know each other anymore. Maybe if we looked each other in the eye, we would be less driven to misunderstanding.
Are there any specific themes or messages you aim to convey through your music?
I am a story teller, positive, catchy and accessible. My songs offer distinct, prominent messages about personal empowerment and emotional fulfillment. I want to make a difference in people’s lives. My music always brings a positive message. I try to give people a different way of hinking, a view that offers them alternatives, support, and encouragement. We all have our trials, but I’m 100% convinced we can overcome them by maintaining the right attitude in life.
Music is magic because it is the closest thing to our hearts and souls. My music is all about making lemonade out of lemons.
Can you discuss a piece of music you are particularly proud of and the story behind it?
I am particularly proud of my new single “Every Day by Eileen Carey.” I think it describes who I am as much as any release I have ever had.
The world is filled with ups and downs, so I want to help people see things in a more positive light and find a better place in life. My new release, “Every Day,” is a song written with Lily Wilson, who I’ve have been writing with for some time now, that describes my philosophy of life as well as any I have written.
“Don’t want to be blinded by fear, and I know what I got to do. When I want to jump I find a better way, I get back up, I get back up every day, every day.” - “Every Day”
I wanted to ring in the new year with a tune that oozes resilience and optimism. Because, well, that’s pretty much how I try to see the world. On that note, I’m proud to announce that my new single “Every Day” is now streaming. The song is a reminder to rise above all those pesky little worries that greet us each morning.
What role do social media and online platforms play in building your fanbase?
Much of my success as an Indie has come through my footprint in social media and online platforms. Despite all the questions about streaming services like Spotify, for an Indie Artist it is indispensable in the development of one’s brand in the current music business artist development model. I put out a monthly newsletter, event pages every show, and I am always available for interaction with my fans through my platforms which I try to respond to and do most of the time.
Performance Experience:
I perform live as often as possible. I get the greatest rush out of performing live. The stage is the place I am most comfortable with in my life. I have performed at nearly 80 venues, and I am joined on stage by an amazing collection of talented musicians who are notable in their own right. They include my music director John McDuffie (lead guitar, vocals), Lynn Coulter (drums), Devitt Feeley (acoustic guitar, vocals), Gia Ciambodi (vocals), Carl Byron (keyboards) and Alexis Skjlarevski (bass).
I have been opening for headline artists for six years now, and it has been the other key aspect with social media and radio that has been driving my career. Opening for classic acts has been a tactic of mine for the past 5 -6 years. I have shared stages with everyone from Don McClean, Rita Coolidge, multiple performances with The Starship, Ambrosia and The Motels, to Berlin, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Peter Noone, Raul Malo of the Mavericks, Johnny Rivers, Wilson Phillips, Albert Lee, Al Jardine & Wilson Phillips, Missing Persons, Pure Prairie League, etc., etc. etc. What comes to my head here.
I also regularly play the clubs, honkytonks, and theaters in Nashville. Also, the California fairs and festivals, including San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles County and The California State Fair among others.
That direct connection with your audience is paramount. I have a very loud and enthusiastic following, who are music fans as well as my fans. I try to play shows that not only make new fans from exposure to the headliner’s audience but to reward my audience with the coolest headliners I can open for when they come to my show.
How do you stay updated with current trends and developments in the music industry?
Change is the “word” in the music industry. Everything is constantly evolving. Grooves, instrumentation. I am a student of popular trends, though I am myself, I incorporate ideas that I appreciate. I like all kinds of music, and I try to listen to everyone.
Can you talk about any challenges you have faced as a musician and how you overcame them?
When I was twenty-three an A&R guy in Nashville told me, “You’re too old. Go home.” He is now one of my biggest supporters.
Despite the success I have had over the years in radio as a woman that came up through the country music industry getting play on radio was and still is difficult. I have been able to overcome that by making good records and knowing which promoters can get women on the radio. Persistence really!
I don’t believe that anything should hold back talent, effort, and aspiration. Not gender, age, or race.
How do you balance the creative aspects of music with the business side of the industry?
Before I decided to take my chances in music, I studied hotel management, so I am both brain sided so to speak, lol. Also, I have a staff of folks who I have been with for some time now and can trust to support my management efforts.
Have you won any awards or received recognition for your music?
I have won twenty-five awards in my career. I am currently the New Music Weekly New Music Awards’ “Crossover Artist of 2023,” The Independent Music Awards “Fan Favorite Mainstream Artist 2024” and their “Crossover Artist 2024.”
What is coming up for you in the near future?
I just released a new single which is picking up steam on radio called “Every Day” (see link above) and I am ready to release the video for “Every Day” now.
Got a show sharing the stage at The Canyon Montclair, on the 22nd of March with Nelson. Second time I am sharing a stage with them. And on the 26th I am performing at the Producers Choice Honors Red Carpet Press Event at the Sunset Station Resort & Casino in Henderson, Nevada. - Music Industry Mastery

“Carey— a little bit cosmopolitan, a little bit country, a true musical chameleon, blending pop and rock and country influences with ease .Fans have recognized Carey’s star-quality for years, but now the critics are starting to take notice as well”. – (ElmoreMagazine.com)”
“The crowd was hooked from the moment “Hearts of Time” kicked off the night. Carey’s sassy yet humble stage demeanor gave off Gretchen Wilson meets Miranda Lambert vibes, which clearly appealed to the crowd, which engaged in hand clapping, line dancing and singing along.” - Heather Allen, Music Connection.https://www.musicconnection.com/live-review-eileen-carey-whisky-a-go-go/Band Members
