Virginia based quintet Dreadnot describe their sound as ‘somewhere between head–banging rock and foot–stomping blues’ and that is a statement sums it up perfectly, their latest single ‘Wolves’ features slow builds, silky riffs, and delicate yet solid vocals. I like bands that are in confident in their own sound and it’s really apparent when listening through their back catalogue on their SoundCloud that they forming such an organic fresh sound. With a sound that falls somewhere between head-banging rock and foot-stomping blues, Dreadnot is a band comprised of five 20-somethings who live for good times and great music. Rooted in RVA (Richmond, VA), each of their intricately-crafted originals runs deep with echoes of home and the music they grew up on. With a sound that hearkens to soul, heavy blues and hard rock, Dreadnot's influences range from Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix to Highly Suspect and Metallica.
Dreadnot is a full band revival of an acoustic project started by guitarists Matt Minor and Michael Patton in 2009 that has seen huge success on YouTube, achieving over a million views and racking up thousands of subscribers.
From hazy high school weekends to cloudy college nights, all five members share a friendship forged by time, music and late nights. That chemistry has brewed a unique sound that fuses crunchy riff-driven rock, punchy drum beats and smooth melodic vocals.
