Bio
Daniel Sage is a fun trail blazer, born in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. Honoring idols Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, and Kurt Cobain, Sage's style is strikingly soulful and introspective. A history project, an apathy for public school and an argument with mom allowed Daniel to be released from the traditional education system at the ripe age of 12. As a result, Sage has travelled the world to develop his unique sound, only recently returning to NC to rediscover his roots.
His first LP Astronaut (2010) caught the attention of producer John Hampton (White Stripes, Replacements, Stevie Ray Vaughn) at Ardent Studios in Memphis TN, teaming up with him to produce Wildlife (2014). All this whilst enjoying a role as a "singing tour guide", performing the likes of Otis Redding and Johnny Cash facing backwards on a moving school bus.
For his third album Triad (2018) he diverted his path to Santa Fe, NM where he was a teacher at a democratic free school . Inspired by his complicated relationship with his home turf and a near death experience, Triad dissects love, society and challenging yourself, all packed in 9 dank tracks.About Triad, Daniel Sage says: "What things in our life are preventing us from having the best experience of our authentic self? May you discover gold laying in the silence. I used songwriting as a vehicle in Triad to come home, literally and internally."
