Braxton Crosby, or Crosby, is a Hip-Hop artist based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina who has been putting out music since 2012. Since then he has learned and grown as an artist, making four albums and 2 EPs in the process. Crosby seems to see Cool Ass Life, his upcoming album, as the turning point in his career in the sense that on previous projects he was still trying to find his artistic identity, while on Cool Ass Life he has not only found it, he has flourished in it. As the album is set for a surprise release within the next two weeks, I have not listened to it and cannot confirm this claim, but from what I heard during the course of this interview and on his Soundcloud lately, I tend to believe its true..... - OK-Tho Magazine

Bio
Braxton Crosby, known to the music world simply as “Crosby,” is a 20 year old rapper, raised in Harnett County, NC, coming out of Chapel Hill, NC. Born in Alabama as a military brat, he has seen and experienced life in 5 states in the South before finally settling in North Carolina. Here, he found his true passion for music, started rapping and producing seriously in 2010. Over the past 5 years, he’s worked tirelessly in order to hone his skills and perfect his style.
His music has visited many emotions throughout the past year- “This Mess We’re In…,” his mixtape effort released in 2015, traverses through his struggles with depression, loss, and finally, finding himself. Recently, Crosby’s music has picked up in tone, with a more positively titled LP- “Cool Ass Life”- which dropped in July 2015. Lead singles “Lowlife” and “3AM in the Sticks” show Crosby’s versatile flows on various soundscapes. Production features many SoundCloud favorites such as purpan, [matador], and Tom C. A 2015 EP collaboration with purpan featured the gripping song, “Balcony,” which was praised on the website Artistic Manifesto for Crosby’s “…pessimistic view on his own existence.”
Crosby gives credit to Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, Robb Bank$, Action Bronson, Lupe Fiasco, Portishead, The Weeknd, and Kanye West as some of his many influences. He’s not only listened, but studied various genres including Trip-Hop and Jazz, to craft his own unique, continually-improving style.
Crosby will continue to grow artistically and will soon be a force in the new age of Hip-Hop. He’s gaining many followers on SoundCloud and Twitter on a daily basis and his popularity will only increase each day somebody discovers this immense talent.
