Bio
For Chuck Thomas, a love of adventure, exploration and coloring outside the lines began at a young age. Thomas spent his early childhood days in the countryside on a 14-acre horse farm in Bucks County PA. His musical journey began at age 9 when he wrote his first song, and he has continued to follow his passion as a songwriter and singer.
Thomas’s family was active in music and performance in Philly and surrounding areas. He was raised listening to traditional country music which inspired his songwriting. His uncle played guitar for George Jones on the Louisiana Hayride. Jim Croce and Merle Haggard were both major musical influences while growing up. Thomas moved to Nashville in 2006 and never felt more at home. And the challenge began anew - writing new songs, courting new fans and of course, getting song cuts for the whole world to hear.
Thomas’ music combines elements of folk, blues, country, rock and nostalgia. With his powerful vocals and lyrical twists, his songs depict the realities of life, love, and the problems of everyday living. His honest storytelling, unfiltered emotion and stage presence draw listeners in and have them asking for more.
Thomas finds inspiration by surrounding himself with people who are great at their craft and who will make you step out of your comfort zone both in songwriting and in life. He is guided by his down-home “true north” - simply stated as wake up every day happy with who you are, work hard to achieve your goals and never look back.
As a songwriter and performer, Thomas’ goal is to reach people where they are and touch them in a such way that they know they do not journey alone. His mission is summed up in one of his favorite quotes, “I don’t play music because I think I’m great, I play because I think music is great and I want to be part of it.”
Thomas’ musical journey has been a testament to his talent and persistence.
For Thomas, being a songwriter in Nashville has given him the opportunity to work with the best and allowed him to learn who he is as writer. The challenge has been to overcome the roadblocks the industry throws your way.
Among Thomas’ more memorable and fun moments are opening for Ty Herndon and Thompson Square, playing at CMA Fest on the Budweiser Stage and performing at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
Among Thomas’ music awards include:
- JMA Country Male Song of The Year (Nobody Showed Me) by the Chad Williams Band
- Song of the Year Modern Country Female (God Gave Me All I Need) by Kathryn Shipley,
- Nashville Industry Music Awards (NIMA) Album of the Year (Cigarettes and Whiskey)
- Songwriter of the year JMA Best Pitching Portfolio and Personal Body of Work
- Gold Award Winner for Christian Online Film Festival (God Gave me All I Need).
