Christians single “Beyond The Stars” is a fantastic showcase of his undeniable talent.
Review of "Beyond the Stars"
The song begins with a simple synth melody that is soon joined by Christian singing, “Taking off.” After this line, the song literally begins to take-off as the production arrangement grows with additional synths fading in creating anticipation as the song builds towards the first verse.
When the sub bass drops, Christian enters singing, “I feel your body/Getting real close/And it’s so warm/Let’s make a toast/Up to the life/Because it feels nice/Turn off the light/And turn up the lights/Touch the Stars in the room,” showing off his crystal clear, soft tone as he sings through smooth melodies.
“Beyond The Stars” is all about love and expressing your feelings. In particular this is a story of a man trying to express the magnitude of his love, saying that they can travel “beyond the stars.” The track eases back on the last lines of the verse creating an exciting drop as he enters the chorus singing, “Blasting off/Up we go/Beyond the Stars/Past the Moon/Nobody/Knows where we are.” During the chorus Christian boasts his vocals with glistening high notes that are sure to swoon listeners.

Christian Cordan is a 24 year old singer-songwriter originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. Christian’s style of music is Contemporary R&B; with lots of smooth melodies and abstract lyrics. His inspiration comes from his past dealing with situations like pain from relationships, losing people who were close to him, learning how to grow from past experiences/mistakes, as well as dreams for the future. Inspiring people to follow their dreams no matter what they are is Christian’s main goal. He wants people to believe that they can do anything they put their minds to no matter where they have come from, what they have been through, or what limitations they believe life has placed on them! Christian is currently finishing up his new EP, but in the meantime has released a new single from the EP. We talked to Christian about the recording process of the EP, and bit about this new single, “Beyond The Stars”.
Entertwine: What has the recording process been like for this EP? The recording process thus far has been a new and energizing experience. Throughout this process I have learned a lot more about myself and my sound. I feel as though I am really beginning to see my vision come to life. Although, the EP is not completed it has been good to take this time to reflect on my progression musically and be aware of my opportunities to continue to progress for the future.
What can you tell us about your new single? What influenced the song? The name of the single is “Beyond the Stars” and it’s a song that truly defines the core of my sound and my style. I describe the song as the story of a man trying to express to a woman the magnitude of his feelings for her and where the expression of that love will take them in their union (Beyond the Stars), but it’s really deeper than that. It’s like an expression of how it feels to be free to let your imagination run wild; like when you look up at the sky by a beach or on a dark night and imagine being up there among the stars. Love also inspired this song because love can make you feel like you are on another world or Beyond the Stars.
What can listeners expect to hear from you from this EP? Can you give us any insight to some of your favorite parts of creating this record? Listeners can expect to hear the same sound, but different. It will be the same because it will still be my smooth and mellow style, but it will be different in the way I approach my style as in how I sing and what I say. My favorite part of creating this record and with any record I will create is the opportunity to be myself as well as tell the listeners how life feels from my perspective.
When you aren’t writing/recording, what takes up your free time? When I’m not writing/recording I do some work with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, I record & edit videos, workout (running and weight training), and read.
What is next for you in 2016? Progression and increase is next for me in 2016.

Christian Cordan is a 24 year old singer-songwriter originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in Business and is currently enrolled at the Clinton School of Public Service. His style of music is Contemporary R&B; Christian says he has a lot of smooth melodies and abstract lyrics. “My inspiration comes from my past, I’m just looking to change lives through my music.”
Christian Cordan has just released the track, entitled “Beyond The Stars”. It is the story of a man trying to express to a woman the magnitude of his feelings for her and where the expression of that love will take them in their union – “Beyond the Stars”. Christian Cordan is the epitome of an entertainer.
He sings good music, has a story, you hear the passion in his voice and automatically catch that momentum. This brother will blow you away with this no frills performance. It took me two listens to realize what was so unusual about Christian’s in-your-face performance.
“Beyond The Stars” makes the perfect backdrop to a romantic evening or even just a cocktail party or simply for your own relaxation. It has a sophisticated sound that will make you look very cool to everyone you know when you put it on your player. Christian Cordan’s music and his voice is one that can cross all generation-smooth – mellow, relaxing, soulful, jazzy…wonderful.
This dude is for the Ladies and Gentlemen who have outgrown the club, who have outgrown the pimping and gold digging. This is for the grown, sexy and confident loving people of the world. If you are smooth then this track, is required in your collection.
It’s really good to know that when you’ve pretty much given up on the condition of today’s music, that you can hear an artist like Christian Cordan. It dawns on you that there are still artists who are dedicated to “the music and the message” and not the package that the music comes in. From the first note on “Beyond The Stars”, the listener is blessed with the gift of superb vocal musical artistry and lyrical mastery.
If you’ve ever loved, laughed, cried, pondered what you’ve done with your life, and wonder why you are in a relationship, you will appreciate this song. No, it won’t give you the complete meaning of life, but, if you listen closely, it will help you on your journey towards understanding why you love, and why we all need something that can takes us “Beyond The Stars”. - Jamsphere - Rick Jamm
This 23 year old singer/songwriter hails all the way from Little Rock, AR. I must need to visit this place because we've posted quite a few talents to Thirty86 from Little Rock! Christian Cordan is a Morehouse man with a degree in Business and he specializes in Contemporary R&B! We had a chance to not only premiere some of his newest music but we briefly chatted with the young king! Check out the interview and his music below!........
1. How long have you been pursuing your career and how did you get into music?
I have been pursing a career in music for about two years now, but I have always dreamt of being a well-known and respected artist/entertainer within the industry. Prior to my graduation from Morehouse College I released my first music video independently. Since, I have been working tirelessly towards fulfilling my dream. Ever since my parents bought me my first microphone (it was plastic of course) being in the music industry has always been a dream of mines. I got serious about my pursuit of a career in music when my brother who is now my manager John Isom II took me to the Kitchen Studios in Dallas, Texas for my first studio session about three or four years ago. And my cousin Young Kix who is featured in our soon to be released collaboration EP titled Family First gave me more motivation and inspiration to be an independent artist. These two gave me the influence and resources that I needed to take the initial step in being serious about my music career as well as applying my business degree to the things I do in pursing this career path.
2. Who are some of your musical influences and what about them connected with you?
There are a lot of musicians within many different genres who have influenced the way I look at and listen to music as well as the way I feel about my own music and the message I am trying to get across. But I would have to say my top three musical influences would have to be Michael Jackson, Sade, and Drake. I know Michael Jackson is a cliché answer, but I believe he was a great singer, entertainer, and a great person to model a career path after because his level of success is what I believe every artist should hope to achieve. I also went to school and lived in Gary, Indiana for a short time when I was younger, which is where he was born and where his career began. Sade is a musical influence of mines because while I was living in Gary, Indiana my mother would always play her music in the car or at home. It was something about her smooth sound, melodies, and lyrics that always gave me a good feeling andas I continue to listen to those old songs to this day I always think that I want my music to give people the same feeling. She is an artist I hope I am blessed with the opportunity of working with in the near future. Drake is a musical influence for me because of his innovative style and fearless persona. I know when he began his career in music many people did not believe that he could be success making the type of music that he made because of the way the music industry was and the type of music that was being pushed the most, but through belief in his talents and abilities he became an innovative leader within the music industry and I respect the fact that he kept working hard for what he believed in until he found that one person who gave him the opportunity he needed. I connect with him as an artist because I want the opportunity to bring my own form of innovation to the music industry and to the future supporters of my music and seeing someone who’s style mines is similar too achieve what he has achieve gives me more confidence to pursue my dreams wholeheartedly.
3. Do you feel like attending to college was beneficial to you now? Also the institution you chose, Morehouse, did it help you with your career in any way?
I feel like going to college was very beneficial to me now and will continue to be beneficial to me in my future endeavors. College gave me the unique opportunity to learn about life as well as learn a lot about myself and what I really want out of life. Looking back on my college days I realize that every experience I had good and bad were all laid out to prepare me for what was to come in my life. I believe if I hadn’t gone to college that it would have taken me longer to learn some of the things I learned from being in the environment and experiencing life on my own. I also feel as though I will be able to get more respect as an artist because I have the credentials of a Bachelor in Business Administration under my belt and soon to be Masters in Public Service as well. The main thing I have learned from being in school is the importance of researching and studying your craft because if I’m not learning from every experience for the purpose of growing as an artist and as a purpose then I am wasting my opportunity to grow, be successful, and most importantly my opportunity to teach the next person with big dreams who will need a mentor. Being a student at Morehouse did help me a little bit when I released my first video because it gave me an opportunity to connect with the audience I would be trying to build because it was mostly the people I saw everyday. But it helped me mainly because Morehouse College is located in Atlanta, Georgia, which has been the birthplace for the careers of many great artists past and present. Most importantly it is in my opinion the center of everything that is going on as well as up and coming within the music industry today. And just being in that environment was very motivating and influential for me.
4. What artists, major or underground, would you love to work with?
As far as major artists as I stated earlier I would love to work with Sade as well as Drake, Wiz Khalifa, TGT, Lupe Fiasco, Erykah Badu, B.O.B, Wale, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Pharrell, Jay-Z, Nas, the list goes on and on. Underground artists that I would like to work with I would say Phlo Finster, JMSN, Carmen Dash, Lo Thraxx, Lil B, Kottonmouth Jesse, RTMG, TSE, Jae the Lyoness, and 607.
5. What would you like to see happen in 2015 for your career?
In 2015 I would like to continue to take my career to the next level more specifically meeting more influential people within the music industry and writing songs for major artists. I would also like to be blessed to go on tour and perform at bigger venues such as SXSW, Coachella, etc…
6. Is there anything else you'd like the readers and your fans to know?

Christian Cordon’s music is intentional and very cathartic, greatly inspired by his past lamentations, relationships, and mistakes as well as his visions of the future to inspire others from his personal journey. He is very passionate about inspiring others to follow their dreams while striving for the highest levels of performance and never give up. Christian Cordan wants to demonstrate through his music how one can be motivated to soar high above every day, commonplace acceptances in life. His music is designed to inspire others to embrace the possibilities of catapulting above the rest even when one seems anchored in seemingly inscrutable interrogatives of life. He believes, that in spite of the gravitational pulls of personal challenges, that one can take a lesson from the bumblebee who, according to the laws of physics, is not supposed to be able to fly, but chooses to fly anyway. Don't let the physics of life's interrogatives hold you back. Find the answers in the sky and actualizing your full potential!
