Cherry Batter is a slowcore/gaze band hailing from Portland, OR. They formed in early 2024 by a group of dedicated players with diverse backgrounds looking for a creative outlet to carve their own identity throughout the Portland scene. Their sound reflects a fusion of slow, heavy rock music and gazey walls of sound brought to life by a stacked 4-piece band. Known for their extreme dynamics and distinct musical identity, Cherry Batter continues to build momentum with projects like the upcoming project Anthology – EP. Cherry Batter is a slowcore/gaze-driven band based out of Portland, OR. Formed in Feb. 2024, the group came together with a shared passion for rocking hard, blending their unique talents to create a sound that is both familiar and transportive. Whether performing on local stages or working in their home studio, Cherry Batter thrives on their emotional performances and intricate musicianship, setting them apart in today’s local DIY scene.
The band features Coco Calhoun on vocals, Dray Boulanger on Guitar, Jack Beymer on Bass, and Ben Quackenbush on Drums. Each member brings a distinct musical background to the group, ranging from indie folk to jazz, to pop, and back again. Their collective experience includes performances at The Fixin’ To, various DIY spaces around the Portland area, and collaborations with other local bands from around the city.
Cherry Batter has carved their own identity through the expansive Portland music scene, thanks to their commitment to authenticity and their utmost professionalism. Their upcoming project, Anthology - EP, showcases their evolving sound—balancing tight arrangements with raw emotion. As they continue to grow, Cherry Batter is focused on releasing new music and expanding their reach through both live shows and digital platforms.
