"Best Experimental Act 2015"

2015 readers choice winner for "Best Experimental Act" in Tampa Bay Creative Loafing's Best Of The Bay and Bill Bechtel runner up for Best Instrumentalist. - Creative Loafing

"Tight instrumental three-piece"

"Tight instrumental three-piece Bride of Chaotica – guitarist/arranger/producer Bill Bechtel, bassist/synths man Robert "Red" Redmond and drummer Tim Tuthill – draw on influences ranging from Mahavishnu Orchestra to Miles Davis in their fusion of progressive rock and psychedelic jazz. This is the next show marking the release of their debut full-length, Bamboo Transistor; the 10-track LP was recorded at Pro Star Studios in St. Pete and features some original material along with a few new takes on old classics like The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood( This Bird Has Flown)." - Leilani Polk, Creative Loafing, Tampa

"Bride Of Chaotica, Bamboo Transistor"

"It's rare in the indie world to find world-class guitarists like Bill Bechtel. The star of this Tampa Bay instrumental trio is a virtuoso, doing the genius of spacey Hendrix brooding-to-shredding-to-noodling post-punk-psychedelica that Greg Sage gave The Wipers (only sans vocals), and betraying un-Sage like avant jazz leanings, too-such as "Ghetto Dogs". But this is not Weather Channel jazz-rock, or worse, guitar-store-salesman-check-me-out stuff; Bechtel exploits distortion, feedback, and atmospheric planes to set mind scenes, in concert with bassist Red Redmond and versatile drummer Tim Tuthill, so it feels like you're being taken someplace and not taken for a ride. Even covers of Bacharach/David's 1967 #33 for Dusty Springfield, "The Look Of Love" (The Zombies' BBC version is perhaps best) and John Lennon's 1966 Beatles' Rubber Soul classic "Norwegian Wood" are transporting/trippy in this manner." - Jack Rabid, Big Take-Over Magazine (Dec 03, 2012)

"Bride Of Chaotica in Progression Magazine"

"...Guitarist Bill Bechtel has a very distinctive style in the way he navigates that balance of melody, rhythm, and lead. The mood throughout Bamboo Transistor is loose and linear with abiding emphasis on textual shading... a prime example of the trio's modus operandi (is)- Jimi Hendrix tonalities mixed with Wes Montgomery-type octaves and a Double Trouble-like rhythm section maintaining solid grooves. Rating 12 out of 16" - Eric Harabadian, Progression Magazine (Nov 01, 2012)

"Artist of the day: Bride of Chaotica (May 3, 2010)"

Experimental jazz-rock-fusion trio Bride of Chaotica -- guitarist Bill Bechtel, bassist Robert Redmond and drummer Tim Tuthill -- blend psychedelic classic rock with acid jazz to create what they call "evenings of dangerous jazz" offering "episodic forays into the sonic unknown.

"Bride Of Chaotica release ambi-sonic jazz fusion debut album Bamboo Transistor"
June 24, 2012 / Tampa, FL :

"Back in the day albums like John Coltrane's "Impressions" were recorded as live performances, capturing a unique and fleeting moment in time. We decided to record Bride Of Chaotica's debut in the same way, only using the latest digital recording technology instead of the state-of-the-art 1960 Ampex suitcase tape recorders.." states guitarist/arranger/producer Bill Bechtel.

On a blisteringly hot Saturday afternoon late last year the members of Tampa Bay's renegade psychedelic rock trio Bride Of Chaotica convened at Pro Star Studios in St.Petersburg to record their first album live in the studio with engineer Jody Grey. Comprised of ten Bride Of Chaotica tracks and an aggressive take on the Bacharach/David classic "The Look Of Love" and their reimagined arrangement of The Beatle's track "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" the finished project, titled "Bamboo Transistor", was mastered at Redroom Recorders in Tampa by engineer Mark Prator and captures the zeitgeist of the band beautifully, and serves as a compelling introduction to the Bride Of Chaotica experience.
