Syracuse singer-songwriter-musician Brian Alexander calls his live solo show a "one-man band."
Alexander dropped me his five-song collection "The EP," on which he sings, plays guitar and piano (with bass help from Adam Fisher and drum work by Mike D'Ambrosio).
It's deep, original alt-rock with plenty of passion. The torch song "Get Away" freatures reflection: "Maybe I can take a plane to a place where no one knows my name and wash away my worries in the waves. I'll make a life with this guitar, and I'll write a song that breaks your heart, reach you from a thousand miles away."
Alexander does the solo thing at 9 P.M. today at Walter's Cafe and Bistro, 4500 Pewter Lane, Manlius, and 5 P.M. Friday at Shenanigans, 318 E Fayette St., Syracuse. - The Syracuse Post-Standard
