Bio
From the smoke filled bar rooms to the big stages, the Brett Hendrix Band puts on an electrifying and energetic show every time they hit the stage . Hailing from Lorena, Texas, just south of Waco, this group of young musicians brings an entertaining and powerful performance every night they are on stage.
Brett bought his first guitar when he was nine years old. He saw a video of the great Stevie Ray Vaughn "Live at Austin City Limits" and knew at that moment this is what he wanted to do. Brett taught himself to play guitar from watching the video and others over and over. A shy young boy speaking with his guitar at local blues jam, Brett would get invitations to sit in with bands around the area. Big thanks to guys like Chris Castaneda, Chris Allbright and blues legend Classie Ballou for letting Brett sit in at a young age.
After sitting in with his older brother Chance Hendrix, and the bands he played with, Brett decided to start his own band. With musicians his brother found while in the music program at McLennan Community College, the Brett Hendrix Band was born.
The band started out mainly as a blues band but transitioned into a Texas country band with a blues twist. Brett's writing style had much to do with this, but his guitar playing kept the blues influence. The band plays everything for Merle Haggard and Gary Stewart to Stevie Ray Vaughn and Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as original material.
The Brett Hendrix Band has had the privilege to share the stage with some of Nashville big artist such as Chris Young, Lee Brice, and Clint Black to name a few. They have also been fortunate to play with Texas Country and Red Dirt artist such as Kyle Park, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Cody Canada and the Departed, and Brandon Rhyder along with many others.
The band consists of Brett Hendrix on lead guitar and lead vocals. Brett's older brother Chance Hendrix on drums and vocals. Truett Teague on bass guitar and vocals and Simon Bar-Jona on keyboards and guitar
The band released its EP "Mountain Top" in April 2014. They are in studio working on the first full-length album, "Whiskey Town" due out in early 2015. Be on the look out for the Brett Hendrix Band in your area. Also check the band's website, www.Bretthendrixband.com or on Facebook.
