BosLanta Skee

Born in 1981 to parents Ramond Sylvestre and Elsie Belizaire, Skee knew early on that he had a distinct gift, and that gift was music. His parents were a step ahead of him by swiftly identifying, encouraging and developing his talents. At the tender age seven, he began to evoke his inner Beethoven by learning to play the piano. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, the foundation of Skee’s style was built from Haitian Konpa ballads, sipping on gin and juice with Snoop Dogg, and by Treach of the well renowned group, Naughty by Nature. In 1994, Skee moved from Boston to Atlanta, a culture shift that would prove to shape his sound for years to come. 

As a young teen, Skee’s musical influences varied once he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was introduced to the southern sounds of T.I., Andre 3000, and Ludacris. As he grew older, his musical inclination grew stronger with time. Skee performed in both his middle and high school bands where his love and keen ear for striking rhythms and melodies had actively evolved. Following high school graduation, he briefly attended American Intercontinental University for Media Production. In 2001, he encountered and began making music with upcoming R&B artist, David Chin. Though Skee always knew he had the aptitude to drop a mean sixteen, his insatiable curiosity for music lead him to produce beats. 

Roughly five years later, Skee fashioned Archive Records, with fellow artists Parkaluwiz and Novascorcha. After several years of writing and producing behind the scenes, having matured as an artist, and having bared witness to the diseased state hip-hop had fallen into, he instigated the itch to get behind the mic. What transpired there was pure magic. The elements of his life's journey, the cities from which he hailed, and the atmospheres in which he flourished together comprised to influence not only his music, but his appellation, ‘BosLanta Skee’. He made a key decision to humbly take a step forward into the heat of the stage lights, once his crew’s production of raps on wax came to a halt, making his rapping debut in 2004 alongside comrade, rapper Parkaluwiz of Bronx, New York. 

Cheerlessly, in 2007, Skee experienced the tragic loss of his father, Ramond. However, this hardship elicited redemption and Skee emerged more intensely focused and determined than ever before. Epitomizing the best of both Boston and Atlanta, he began working on his first mixtape entitled "I Shoulda Been On That!" BosLantaSkee has an insistent appetite for the art of composition. The man brings an authentic stage performance on stage rather than auto tune behind a microphone; for Skee, crowd engagement is intoxicating and he’s hooked on the feeling. 

Nowadays, just about anyone could hop on a track and record themselves spitting a verse they’ve either written or are writing. Skee hits the booth once he’s mastered his limericks. He became familiar with the expedition of choosing or creating a beat from scratch, coming up with a heavy hitting hook and a fire series of verses, pulling a song together and bouncing it down in the studio. Every aspect of music has peaked his interest since he could remember; his admiration for the art and his fashion of urban sophistication will endure time.
