Newmarket, ON family-related pop act Bordeen follows last week's infectious-sounding "Don't Close Your Eyes" single with this stirring, rhythm-based self-titled 12-track album. The band's strengths are many: strong harmonies, ensemble musicianship, and keen ears for hooks and strong song material. Refreshing, alternative pop with a guitar edge, best songs beyond the aforementioned single include "Spotlight", "Sometimes" and "Big Plans". Smartly produced by Paul Carroll, the band reaches higher ground on "Big Plans (Reprise)" with the Valley View of Music school choir.

"Don't Close Your Eyes" is a smart, funky sounding pop confection a la Talking Heads meets Blondie single from Bordeen, a Newmarket ON quintet with a growing rep in T.O.'s clubland. FYI: The band's name is taken from the trio of vocalists in the group-Brianna, Daniel and Ryan, whose surname is actually spelled Bordihn.

Ontario pop-rock siblings Ryan, Brianna and Daniel Bordihn make music together, but if you're not quite sure how to pronounce their last name, there appears to be a hint in their moniker: Bordeen. They've just released a video for their song "Broken Bones."
The track comes from last year's self-titled album. The clip for this keyboard-spiked sparkler of a pop song shows the trio performing on a plain white sound stage. It's mostly a to-the-point clip, but it's given a little glitz with slow-motion shots, a few projections, and lyrics that flash up on the screen. - Exclaim!
BROKEN BONES - SINGLE
Bordeen
It's no surprise to learn that "Broken Bones," the new single from sibling pop-rockers Bordeen, is already making a mark at radio. The male/female vocal dynamic, catchy hooks and clean production add up to a winning and radio-friendly combination. Last year's self-titled debut album was praised by NCM's David Farrell as "Refreshing alternative pop with a guitar edge". The album's first single, "Don't Close Your Eyes", attracted attention Stateside, and this band are real contenders.

Bio
After
many years of looking for the right fit, lead singer Ryan had to look no
further than his own home to create Bordeen
by having his siblings Daniel (drums) and Brianna (keys/vocal) join the band.
Together they are creating a new niche of Canadian music that will find you
thinking of all the bands you love while hearing something fresh and original
at the same time.
Bordeen is an eclectic mix of new pop, southern rock, and old school harmonies. Throughout each song on their debut album you will be brought into stories that all can associate with love, loss, hardship, compassion, and communication. Each song evoking emotion, each song leaving you wondering what comes next.
Not only have they played most of the top clubs in Toronto and shared the stage with the likes of Pup, The Fast Romantics, and I-65 (Stereos), theyre also gaining momentum as their single Dont Close Your Eyes has been playing on radio stations across Canada, they have been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine, and they will be featured on the television series called New Culture.
For those who love Imagine Dragons, One Republic, Walk off the Earth, The Lumineers, and Coldplay, this is the must hear band of 2014 coming from Canada.
