Drawing from varied roots, each of the six band members brings authentic flavor to their original Americana songs. Lyrics, crafted and crooned by Georgia-girl Jeni Watts, use metaphors and word-play to whip up delicate, yet complex, verse that suitably sits within a musical mélange. Starting with a base of seasoned guitar stylings, Ben Wagner and Morgan Burrell bring bluegrass, folk, country and blues guitar influences to the table. Add to that a dash of harmonies and mandolin from Morgan and velvety ribbons of lap steel from Ben and you begin to feel the simmer. Stirring things up, Kenny Cosca folds in guitar and harmonies that are steeped in classic country, voicings distilled from early radio days. Every good recipe also has its undertones – L’angelo D’Silva offers up bass lines that you recognize in every bite, the essence of an ingredient that is unassuming, yet essential, and couples with the rhythms of Robby Boyd to underpin the whole feast. Robby Boyd peppers in his drum beats, giving each song a unique blend of kick and fire, and tops things off by grating the washboard and garnishing with a distinctive zest.
