Album Overview

What a blessing it is to find something extraordinary! This is especially a good thing when you did not expect to find it. In this case, using the word "it" does this album no justice at all. I am talking about the artist Zerubabbel and the album I'm talking about is The Remastered Project. Oh my! The sounds you hear are amazing piano riffs, then the music starts banging, and all of a sudden there are chords like straight butter in the midst. You'll also hear some nice brass accompaniments smoother than a creamy hollandaise sauce prepared by French chef! Not only that, but also this Henn Diesel Records artist displays the gift bestowed upon him since God blessed him at age 12. He comes with everything from mellow jazz grooves to hood bangers used to pervade the message of the cross throughout Georgia.
Named for the OT character whose name means "begotten of [in] Babylon" and who was the governor of Judah in the second year of King Darius, this artist definitely demonstrates the traits of a leader. As one of Savannah, GA's musical pioneers, he leads a team of artists in Atlanta. I had no clue the ATL had anything but 'Play' from the 90's duo Kid n Play and his HHH movement. I had not heard of Zerubabbel until this review so I was pleasantly surprised to hear such quality music. My man comes with a crisp sound that has obviously been perfected since his days as a secular artist. Under the name Henn Dogg, he was so serious about his craft that he joined the ASCAP. His 1999 entry into the game was turned to ministry in 2003 and he's been popping out hot tracks for the Faith ever since.
Now we have The Remastered Project, a project by a servant of God pouring their heart out for God's glory. Every track on this album, beyond the musical enjoyment, will hit you in the gut with the Gospel from all angles. The blow won't be from some hoity-toity pseudo-intellectual cat trying to wow you with intellectual superiority. Nah bro, you are going to get that down-home, soul-inspiring message of Jesus our Lord. Zerubabbel calls on his comrades Church Boi, Tiffani Michele, Jayreed, Torijuanao Harris, and Zion to help him dig deep into giving God praise, worship, and honor. All I have to say is if you enjoy that southern style funk soul with a twist of rhythmic melodic grooves topped off with straight banging flow, there is a little something special waiting for you with Zerubabbel. Go get it!


Spiritual Significance

You're not going to get some intricate study into a specific style of theology or debate into the human condition. There is not going to be a ton of special excerpts of profound sermons from world-renowned ministers. What will you hear? Application, application, and did I mention application? Zerubabbel walks you down the road of real-life situations that gives you an opportunity to deal with, exemplify, and take advantage of all opportunities to share, the Gospel. He takes each track and tells a story, expounds on a thought, and gives praise. Hold on, that style of music sounds eerily familiar to something I have read before. Hmmm? Oh well, moving on.

What I like the most is the simplicity of the message. Turn from your old ways and accept Jesus Christ. That does not stop the complexity and intricacy of the music. What's nice is the contrast between well-composed yet complex music and easy to understand communication. From topics of worship, to uplifting our women, to wickedness, there
are many issues dealt with from hypothesis to conclusion on one song. There is not a lot of confusing word play too deep for the average fan to understand metaphors. He just takes the word of God and speaks plainly from track 1 to track 16. He speaks his heart for our God. In just two words, he gets at the core of 'praise' and 'worship'. It's like you want to stop and just lift your hands to Jesus. So we don't have expository depth, but we do get tons of God's radiant love. We do get a message of hope. After indulging in the savory flavor of this album's exhortation of a Holy God there is a satisfaction that will make you say, "No desert please."
